How to be with Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alayhi wa sallam) in Jannah

Sayyiduna Anas (radiyallahu ‘anhu) reports that Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alayhi wa sallam) said:
“He who revives my sunnah, loves me. Whoever loves me will be with me in Jannah.”
(Sunan Tirmidhi, Hadith: 2678; Majma’uz Zawaid, vol. 1, pg. 272)

💭 The Sunnats of Nabi (sallallahu 'alayhi wasallam) are many and pertain to all aspects of life. Gradual implementation will ensure consistency.
Some pertinent Sunnats are listed below:
•Using the Miswak.
•Being cheerful.
•Compasion for the less fortunate.
•Being reasonable with one's customer, debtor, employee etc.
•Settling debts promptly.

🤲🏼 May Allah guide us all. Amin.

Shaykh ‘Awwamah’s (hafizahullah) love for the Sunnah

Shaykh ‘Awwamah’s son, Dr Muhyuddin (hafizahullah), writes:
“My respected father continuously encouraged his family in the home to adopt the various Sunnahs of Nabiy (sallallahu ‘alayhi wasallam). He encourages them by saying that these Sunnahs create closeness and love for Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alayhi wasallam) and being laxed in the Sunnah is a result of hardheartedness, and it distances a person from Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alayhi wasallam).

Among the Sunnahs that my respected father was very particular about, are the following:
1. Keeping the pants above the ankles.
2. Covering the head.
3. Offering the Sunnah Salah before and after the Fard Salah.
4. Offering the Fard Salah in congregation.
5. Doing every good thing with the right.
6. Spreading the Salam.
7. In the month of Ramadan, he would emphasise the offering of [20 rakats] Tarawih Salah for even the juniors.

The intrinsic link between the Quran Karim and Hadith Sharif

The following is an abstract in which Muhaddithul ‘Asr, ‘Allamah Binnoriy (rahimahullah) illustrates that the Quran and the Hadith are inseparable, contrary to the ideology of Hadith rejection:

There is absolutely no possibility that the Holy Quran and Hadith Sharif can be separated from each other, nor is it possible to believe in the Holy Quran and reject the Hadith Sharif.
The reason for this is that the Holy Quran repeatedly expresses the fact that salvation lies in following Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alayhi wasallam) and disobeying him leads to destruction and ruin. The Quran Sharif gives the most severe warnings against opposing Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alayhi wasallam), whilst it promotes his lifestyle as a model and example for the Ummah.

The Quran Karim has mandated Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alayhi wasallam) to teach, interpret and explain the Quran [i.e., in the form of the Hadith Sharif]. The result is that salvation, happiness, and prosperity in this world and the Hereafter lies in following [the Hadith of] Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alayhi wasallam).
Furthermore, the true measure of love and obedience to Allah Ta’ala is solely in adherence to the Sunnah of Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alayhi wasallam):

قُلْ إِن كُنتُمْ تُحِبُّونَ اللَّهَ فَاتَّبِعُونِي يُحْبِبْكُمُ اللَّهُ وَيَغْفِرْ لَكُمْ ذُنُوبَكُمْ ۗ وَاللَّهُ غَفُورٌ رَّحِيمٌ ‎﴿٣١﴾‏

Say, “If you love Allah, then follow me, Allah will then love you and forgive your sins. And Allah is most forgiving, most merciful.
(Surah: Alu ‘Imran, Verse: 31)

The most beloved people and deeds in the sight of Allah Ta'ala

Sayyiduna ‘Abdullah ibn ‘Umar (radiyallahu ‘anhuma) related that Nabi (sallallahu ‘alayhi wa sallam) was asked:
“O Messenger of Allah, which of the people are most beloved to Allah, and which deeds are most beloved to Allah?”

Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alayhi wa sallam) said:
“The people most beloved to Allah are those who are most beneficial to the people; and the most beloved deed to Allah is to make a Muslim happy, or remove one of his troubles, or to fulfill his debt, or to satiate his hunger…”
(Qada-ul Hawaij, Hadith: 36)

📝 The current widespread suffering of Muslims and non Muslims throughout the globe presents abundant opportunity to practice on the above.
May Allah Ta’ala bless us all with the tawfiq to do so.

Sayyiduna Abu Hurayrah (radiyallahu ‘anhu) reported that Nabi (sallallahu ‘alayhi wa sallam) once visited him while he was ill. Nabi (sallallahu ‘alayhi wa sallam) asked him, “Should I not recite the supplication that Jibril (‘alayhis salam) brought to me?” He replied, “Certainly! May my mother and father be sacrificed for you.” Nabi (sallallahu ‘alayhi wa sallam) said:

Who are the best of people?

Sayyiduna ‘Abdullah ibn ‘Amr (radiyallahu ‘anhuma) narrates that Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alayhi wa sallam) was asked: ‘Which people are the best?’
He said: Those with pure hearts and truthful tongues.’
They said: ‘We know the meaning of truthful tongues, but what is pure hearts?’
Nabi (sallallahu ‘alayhi wa sallam) replied: ‘[It is that heart which is] Allah conscious, clean, sinless, and has no injustice nor envy or jealousy/malice.’
(Sunan Ibn Majah, Hadith: 4216. Refer: Zawaid Sunan Ibn Majah, pg. 547, Hadith: 1431)

💡The value of such a heart is realised more when one sets out to search for it.
With passing of every day, such hearts are becoming more scarce, which should be a cause for concern for every sincere Muslim.

Keeping one's heart free of evil, malice and jealousy

Sayyiduna Anas (radiyallahu ‘anhu) says that we were sitting with the Messenger of Allah (sallallahu’alayhi wasallam) when he said:
“A man who is from the inhabitants of Jannah is about to arrive.”
Soon thereafter, a Sahabi (radiyallahu’anhu) came in, with his shoes in his left hand and the water of wudu dripping from his beard.
When the gathering ended, Sayyiduna ‘Abdullah ibn ‘Amr ibn ‘As (radiyallahu ‘anhuma) followed this person (with the motive of learning the reason for him being blessed with such a glad tiding). He said to him: “I have taken an oath that I will not go home for three days. Is it possible for you to accommodate me for this time?” The Sahabi agreed. Sayyiduna ‘Abdullah ibn ‘Amr stayed with him for three days, but noticed nothing extraordinary in his routine, i.e., he never engaged in additional voluntary deeds as expected. However, whenever this Sahabi (radiyallahu ‘anhu) would go to bed at night, he would recite some form of dhikr, then sleep till fajr. Furthermore, during these three days he did not hear him utter any word besides good.
Sayyiduna ‘Abdullah ibn ‘Amr (radiyallahu ‘anhuma) says: “After three nights I almost deemed his deeds as 'nothing so special'. I approached him and explained that my real motive for staying with him was to discover the special act that he may be engaging in, which warranted his guarantee of Jannah.” Then I asked him: “How did You achieve such a rank?” He said: “I have no special deeds beside whatever You have seen during your stay.” I accepted this and was about to leave when he exclaimed: “O, Yes! there is something. I do not harbor any evil or malice in my heart against any fellow Muslim. I am not jealous over whatever good Allah bestows upon any of them.” Sayyiduna ‘Abdullah ibn ‘Amr (radiyallahu ‘anhuma) said: “That is precisely the reason for you reaching such a lofty status.”

(Musnad Ahmad and Nasa’i. Hafiz Ibn Kathir -rahimahullah- has declared the chain of Nasa’i as authentic, in accordance to the standards of Imams Bukhari and Muslim. refer: Tafsir Ibn Kathir, Surah: 59, Ayah: 9)

(Musannaf Ibn Abi Shaybah, Hadith: 5561, Musnad Abi Ya’la, Hadith: 4075)

Note: Qiyamah occuring on a Friday, and the entire creation fearing its possible occurrence every Friday, is found in other reliable Hadiths as well.

(Sunan Ibn Majah, Hadith: 2893)

📝Shaykh ‘Awwamah (hafizahullah) states that being ‘delegates’ also means that they are representatives of their people back home.
Such people are indeed fortunate to have been accepted by Allah Ta’ala.
Their du’as are surely to be accepted on their own behalf, on behalf of those whom they represent and on behalf of the entire ummah, insha Allah. 🤲🏼

Speaking the truth leads to Jannah

Sayyiduna ‘Abdullah ibn Mas’ud (radiyallahu ‘anhu) reported that Nabi (sallallahu ‘alayhi wa sallam) said:
“Truthfulness leads to piety and piety leads to Jannah. A man continues to be truthful until he is recorded as truthful by Allah. Lying leads to evil and evil leads to Jahannam. A man continues to lie until he is recorded as a liar by Allah.”
(Sahih Bukhari, Hadith: 6094 and Sahih Muslim, Hadith: 2607)

📝 Honesty is the foundation of every healthy relationship. Lies, even in jest, are unacceptable and can never be justified.
Yet, in today’s world, speaking lies has become so commonplace that many believe it’s harmless as long as there are no consequences. The truth, however, is that there will always be consequences, as warned by the Hadith above, which will be felt in this world as well as the next.
🤲🏼 May Allah guide us all.

‘Allamah Binnory’s support for the effort of Tabligh

When Moulana Muhammad Ilyas (rahimahullah) started the work of Tabligh, the ‘Ulama initially didn’t completely support it. Eventually, the concern and du’as of Moulana Ilyas (rahimahullah) showed results and gradually the support of the ‘Ulama increased. Shaykh Binnory (rahimahullah) was from amongst those pious elders of deep insight who completely supported the work through his pen, lectures, heart and soul.

Participating in Tablighiy Ijtimas
Upon the invitation of the Tablighiy brothers, he participated in their Ijtimas despite his preoccupations and many other engagements. In these Ijtimas when Moulana Binnory (rahimahullah) used to encourage the congregation to go out in the path of Allah, innumerable people would intend to go due to his sincerity.

Mufti Shahid mentions that he heard from the tongue of Shaykh Binnory (rahimahullah) 3 times that “Tabligh is jihad.” During his lecture in Makkiy Masjid, he established this matter with strong proofs. Besides this, Moulana (rahimahullah) and the people of this work had certain things in common.
1️⃣The worry and concern for the ummah which is the sign of a true ‘Alim and Da’iy (caller) to Allah. This worry didn’t allow Moulana (rahimahullah) to rest for even a moment. If he heard an incident of the destruction of the Muslims of any place, he expressed great concern and sorrow. This worry and pain affected those sitting around him, which was evident to the participants in Moulana’s (rahimahullah) majlis.
2️⃣Like the people of Tabligh, Moulana (rahimahullah) also was not desirous of name and fame.

The Intelligent Believers

Sayyiduna Ibn 'Umar (radiyallahu 'anhuma) reports that Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alayhi wa sallam) was asked: “Which of the Believers are the most intelligent?”
He replied: “Those who remember death the most frequently and those who prepare ahead of time for death in the best manner. These are from the intelligent ones.”
(Mustadrak Hakim, vol. 4, pg. 540)

📝 The reminders of death that we are enveloped with in this day and age is unprecedented. The abundant casualties of wars, natural disasters etc are beamed to our palms in real time. Despite this, the widespread negligence towards the undisputed reality of death is equally alarming.

Pondering over death is extremely effective in reforming one’s deeds and curbing the inclination to haram.
Likewise, as understood from the Hadith above, it also inspires one to prepare for death adequately.

🤲🏼 May Allah (‘Azza wa Jalla) bless us all with a good death, whilst He is pleased with us.

Seven events in the life of Rasulullah (sallallahu ’alayhi wasallam) that occurred during the month of Rabi’ul Awwal and lessons derived therefrom

1. The Birth of Rasulullah (sallallahu ’alayhi wasallam)
(Tuhfatul Latifah vol. 1, pg. 7)
When we realise that Rasulullah (sallallahu ’alayhi wasallam) was born an orphan, our sentiments should then be directed to the many orphans and orphanages around us. We should even consider personally raising orphans as great virtues have been mentioned regarding this.

2. The commencement of revelation (Wahy) to Rasulullah (sallallahu ’alayhi wasallam) in the form of dreams.
(Sharhuz Zurqaniy vol. 10, pg. 40)
According to some ‘Ulama, the incident in the cave of Hira while Rasulullah (sallallahu’alayhi wasallam) was in solitude occurred during Rabi’ul Awwal,(Tuhfatul Latifah vol. 1, pg. 9), although the preferred view is that it occurred in Ramadan.
(Subulul Huda war Rashad, vol. 2, pg. 225)

By spending time in solitude, pondering over the greatness and the creation of Allah, one is elevated in the court of Allah. Allah has described such people in the Quran as “those of intelligence.”
(Surah Ra’d, verse: 19)

3. Hijrah (migration) from Makkah Mukarramah to Madinah Munawwarah
The basis for the spread of Islam lies in struggle and sacrifice for the sake of the Din of Islam.
Rasulullah (sallallahu ’alayhi wasallam) said, “A real Muhajir (one who migrates) is he who migrates from (abandons) sins.”
(Sahih Bukhariy, Hadith: 10)

This Ummah will never be destroyed

Nabi (sallallahu ‘alayhi wa sallam) said:
“That ummah in whose beginning is me, whose end is ‘Isa ibn Maryam and whose penultimate is Mahdi, will never be destroyed.”

‘Allamah Anwar Shah Al Kashmiri (rahimahullah) has declared the Hadith sound (hasan) concurring with ‘Allamah ‘Azizi (rahimahullah).
(Faydul Qadir, 7384, At Tasrih, pg. 181, Hadith: 27, As Sirajul Munir,3/209. Also see: Al Mudawi)

✍🏼 As an Ummah, we should never lose hope in Allah’s immense mercy. Our saviour is Allah & His Messenger (sallallahu’alayhi wasallam).

Seeking protection from Dajjal, debts etc.

'Aaishah (radiyallahu 'anha) narrates that Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alayhi wa sallam) used to invoke Allah in Salah [before making salam to terminate the Salah]:

Transliteration:
Allahumma inni a’udhu bika min ‘adhabil qabr, wa a’udhu bika min fitnatil masihid Dajjal, wa a’udhu bika min fitnatil mahya wa fitnatil mamat. Allahumma inni a’udhu bika minal ma-thami wal maghram.

Translation:
“O Allah, I seek refuge in you from the punishment of the grave, and from the trial of Dajjal, and from the trial of life and death. O Allah, I seek refuge in you from sin and debt.”

One person said: [O Messenger of Allah!] You seek refuge in Allah very often from being in debt? He replied: “When a person is in debt, he tells lies when he speaks, and breaks his promises when he promises.”

(Sahih Bukhari, Hadith: 832 and 2397, Sahih Muslim, Hadith: 589)

How to save oneself from the trial of Dajjal

Sayyiduna Abud Darda (radiyallahu ‘anhu) reports that Nabi (sallallahu ‘alayhi wa sallam) said:
“Whomsoever memorises the first ten verses of Surah Kahf, will be saved from the trial of Dajjal.”

Protect yourself from all trials, including Dajjal

Sayyiduna ‘Ali (radiyallahu ‘anhu) reports that Nabi (sallallahu ‘alayhi wa sallam) said:
“Whomsoever recited Surah Kahf on Friday will be protected for the [next] eight days from all trials. If Dajjal were to emerge [during those eight days], he would be protected from him.”

Imam Mahdi will be a regular person

Sayyiduna ‘Ali (radiyallahu ‘anhu) reports:
“The Mahdi is from us, the Ahlu Bayt. Allah will rectify him in a single night.”
(Sunan Ibn Majah, Hadith: 4085, Musnad Ahmad, vol. 1 pg. 84)

Hafiz Ibn Kathir (rahimahullah) explains: ‘Allah Ta’ala will forgive him, grant him ability and understanding, and inspire him.’
(An Nihayah Fil Fitan Wal Malahim, vol. 1 pg. 45)

‘Allamah ‘Abdul Ghani Al Mujaddidi (rahimahullah) says:
'Allah Ta’ala will make him suitable for leadership and khilafah suddenly.
After quoting this explanation, Shaykh Muhammad ‘Awwamah (hafizahullah) states:
‘This explains that the Mahdi himself will not know that he is the Mahdi.’
(Footnotes of Shaykh Muhammad ‘Awwamah on Musannaf Ibn Abi Shaybah, Hadith: 38799)

From this we understand that the Mahdi will be a regular person, living a regular life. When Allah Ta’ala wishes for him to emerge as the Mahdi, He will rectify him.

The descension of 'Isa ('alayhis salam

Nabi (sallallahu 'alayhi wasallam) has said (as part of a longer hadith):
"When ‘Isa (‘alayhis salam) descends, the leader at that time [Al Mahdi] will ask him to lead the Salah. He will say, ‘No, Some of you are [suitable] leaders over others, This is as an honour from Allah for this Ummah’ [i.e. Someone from this Ummah should lead the Salah]."
(Sahih Muslim, Hadith: 156)

Commentary
The commentators explain that if ‘Isa (‘alayhis salam) had to lead the Salah, some people may get a misconception that he has come as a Nabi with a new Shari’ah. Therefore he will opt to be a Muqtadi [for that salah].
(Fathul Bari, Hadith: 3449, and Fathul Mulhim, vol. 2 pg. 138)

Time of descension
Imams Ahmad and Hakim (rahimahumallah) have recorded a lengthy Hadith which explicitly states that ‘Isa (‘alayhis salam) will descend at the time of Fajr Salah.
(Musnad Ahmad, vol. 4 pg. 216, Mustadrak Hakim, vol. 4 pg. 478)

Du'a for a cold day

Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alayhi wa sallam) is reported to have said: ‘When a person recites the following supplication, Allah Ta’ala says to Jahannam, ‘Indeed, a servant of mine has sought refuge in Me from you, bear testimony that I have granted him salvation from you.’

لا اله الا الله ما أشدّ برد هذا اليوم، اللهمّ أجرني من زمهرير جهنّم

‘La ilaha illallahu ma ashadda barda hadhal yawm, Allahumma ajirni min zamhariri Jahannam’

Translation: There is no Diety besides Allah, how severe is the cold of today! O Allah, save us from 'Zamharir' of Jahannam.

The Sahabah (radiyallahu’anhum) then asked: ‘What is Zamharir?’

Rasulullah (sallallahu’alayhi wasallam) replied: ‘A cold area in Jahannam in which a non believer will be placed, and [due to the extreme freeze] his body parts will break off.’
('Amalul Yawmi wal Laylah, Hadith: 306)

Cold area (Zamharir) in Jahannam
It may come as a surprise to many that Jahannam also has a cold area. The following are more than enough to convince us of this phenomenon:

Sayyiduna Abu Hurayrah (radiyallahu’anhu) reported that Rasulullah (sallallahu’alayhi wasallam) said:
‘Jahannam complained to its Rabb saying: Oh My Rabb, Parts within me have devoured each other.’ So Allah allowed it two breaths; one in summer and the other in winter. Therefore the extreme heat that you experience (on earth) is caused by the heat of Jahannam and the severe cold too is due to the Az-zamharir (the extreme cold section of Jahannam).
(Sahih Bukhari, Hadith 537 and Sahih Muslim)

Fasting in the month of Allah 📆

Abu Hurayrah (radiyallahu 'anhu) narrates that Rasulullah (sallallahu 'alayhi wasallam) said:
‘The best fast after Ramadan is the fast of the month of Allah, Muharram.’
(Sahih Muslim, Hadith: 1163)

Commentary
1️⃣ In general, it is understood that good deeds are more rewardable during the four sacred months; Muharram being one of them.
(Lataiful Ma’arif, pg.163)

2️⃣ Several Tabi’un and other scholars have selected Muharram as the best of these four months.
(Lataiful Ma’arif, pg.79)

3️⃣ Why is Muharram called the month of Allah?
The commentators of Hadith explain that Muharram is attributed to Allah Ta’ala to enhance the greatness of this month and to show its virtue. ‘Allamah Suyuti (rahimahullah) further explains that Muharram is an Islamic name, contrary to the other months, as their names remained as they were in the days of Jahiliyyah (Pre-Islamic era). Muharram was referred to as ‘Safar Al Awwal’. Allah Ta’ala changed the name to Muharram at the advent of Islam. Therefore this month is referred to as the month of Allah.
(Refer: Ad Dibaj ‘Ala Sahih Muslim ibn Al Hajjaj of ‘Allamah Suyuti, Hadith: 2747 and Tuhfatul Ahwadhi, Hadith: 740)

The [first] day will be the duration of one year, the next day will be the duration of one month and the next day will like one week. Get the companionship of our beloved Nabi (sallallahu 'alayhi wasallam) in Jannah

Nabi (sallallahu ‘alayhi wasallam) offered the following priceless counsel to his devoted servant, Sayyiduna Anas (radiyallahu ‘anhu) (as part of a longer Hadith):

"O my son! If you are able to spend your day and night without having malice for anybody in your heart, then do so as this will make your hisab (accountability in the court of Allah) easy.

O my son! This is my Sunnah. Whoever revives/ loves my Sunnah loves me, and will be with me in Jannah."

(Sunan Tirmidhi, Hadith: 2678, Ibn ‘Asakir and one narration of Tabarani)

🔎 Sadly, this quality is not identified as a Sunnah by many, whereas it is an imperative Sunnah that is widely ignored in our current times.

Sayyiduna Anas (radiyallahu ‘anhu) reports that Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alayhi wasallam) affectionately advised him:
“Whoever cherishes my sunnah, indeed cherishes me and whoever loves me will be with me in Jannah.”
(Sunan Tirmidhi, Hadith: 2678. Classified as “hasan” –sound- by Imam Tirmidhi (rahimahullah)

Sentimental events
The above and other such verses and Hadiths are frequently heard and recited during the month of Rabi’ul-Awwal, the month in which the birth and demise of Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alayhi wasallam) occurred.

Huge gatherings are held, sentiments are elevated and hearts become soft upon hearing the details of these events. Resolutions of adhering to the Sunnah are made, and love for Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alayhi wasallam) is increased.

As Muslims, we believe that every Sunnah of our beloved Nabi (sallallahu ‘alayhi wasallam) is filled with nur (divine light) and blessing of Allah Ta’ala. Therefore, the illustrious Sahabah (radiyallahu ‘anhum) and Muhaddithun (Scholars of Hadith) took great pains in preserving the noble Hadiths and Sunnah of Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alayhi wasallam). Through their sacrifices Allah Ta’ala has facilitated a huge amount of literature in which the sacred Hadith is preserved up to this day so that it can be adopted even by the Ummati (follower) of the 15th century of Islam.

Feeling the pain of the Ummah

An essential part of the culture of Islam is for each individual to consider oneself part of the same body. Caring for a fellow believer and the Ummah at large, is a noble trait, part of Iman, and a great Sunnah.

Sayyiduna Nu’man ibn Bashir (radiyallahu ‘anhuma) reports that Nabi (sallallahu ‘alayhi wa sallam) said:
The believers in their mutual mercy, love and compassion are like a single body, when one limb is in pain the rest of the body joins in insomnia, fever and restlessness.'
(Sahih Bukhari, Hadith: 6011)

An Inspirational Incident
Once, on a cold night, Imam Sa’id ibn ‘Uthman Al-Kalbi (rahimahullah) – a Maliki Hadith Scholar- cried the entire night. When he was asked about this he replied: ‘I thought of the [plight of the] poor people in the Ummah of Muhammad (sallallahu’alayhi wasallam) on a night like this, so I cried out of pity for them.'
(Tartibul Madarik, vol.2 pg.418, no. 392)

Mawlana Haroon Abasoomar (rahimahullah) would often mention that if we were truly concerned about the current sad state of the Ummah, we would not even be able to eat our meals. In the latter years of his life (rahimahullah), as the suffering of the Ummah increased throughout the globe, he would say: ‘How can we feast, or enjoy our meals when our own brothers and sisters are suffering so much?!’

This noble trait is also noticed in Al-‘Allamatul Muhaddith, Shaykh Muhammad ‘Awwamah (hafizahullah) that whenever he receives sad news of the suffering of the Ummah, one can easily notice the extreme effect it has on him. At times, Shaykh (hafizahullah) falls ill due to the effect of such news.

May Allah Ta’ala inspire us all to sympathise with those suffering in Palestine, in whichever form possible; be it through du’a, moral and financial support, or in the manner mentioned in the incidents above.

Lesson 16, Value for time

Time is a very valuable ni’mah (bounty) of Allah Ta’ala. Time is life. To demonstrate how great a ni'mah it is to mankind, Allah Ta’ala has taken an oath on ‘time’ in the Quran.
Our Nabi (sallallahu ’alayhi wa sallam) would not let a moment pass without being engaged in the dhikr of Allah Ta'ala. (Sahih Muslim, hadith: 373)

Hazrat Moulana Haroon Abasoomar (rahimahullah) was extremely mindful of time. He hated time wasting. He would never remain idle or engaged in futilities.
When he was with children, he would teach them something in keeping with their age and understanding.
If he was with adults, he would advise them accordingly, and if he was with people of knowledge, he would be engaged in academic discussions.
If Hazrat (rahimahullah) was alone, or if the people around him were silent, he would make dhikr using his dhikr-counter or he would be reciting Quran or reading a kitab of knowledge of Din or even general knowledge. In fact even whilst driving his car he would do the above. Whilst travelling as a passenger in a vehicle or aeroplane, Hazrat Moulana Haroon saheb (rahimahullah) would also spent his spare time offering nafl salah. (This form of nafl salah can be offered whilst seated, facing any direction.)  See here for more details.

Just as he disliked wasting time himself, he also hated to see those around him wasting time. Sayyiduna ‘Abdullah ibn Mas’ud (radiyallahu’anhu) says:
‘I hate to see a man unoccupied, neither engaged in his worldly needs, nor with the affairs of the Akhirah.’
(Ibn Abi Shaybah, hadith: 35704)

Hazrat (rahimahullah) attached great importance to valuing time during special occasions, like Fridays after ‘Asr and during the month of Ramadan.
During these times, one would hardly find time to sit and chat with him, since he would be engrossed in ‘ibadah.
He also valued his time greatly whilst in the blessed lands for Haj or ‘Umrah etc.

To demonstrate his value for time, Hazrat (rahimahullah) always ensured that he was ‘on time’ for his appointments. He also expected the same from others. He would be disturbed if he was late, or even if others were late.

Despite his vast and busy daily engagements and routine, through his value for time, Hazrat (rahimahullah) was able to ‘make time’ for lots of other rewardable deeds, such as visiting the sick, staying in contact with family and friends, attending to the needs of his community, mentoring and advising his students and disciples etc.
He would even ensure to make use of his time fruitfully during the many hours of dialysis treatments.

The sad trend of people (especially adults) wasting time on social media, the internet in general or even on games on their mobile phones is alarming! That time could be better spent in dhikr or other forms of a'amal salihah.
One Hadith states that the only regret that the inhabitants of Jannah will have, will be over the time spent in this world without being engaged in the dhikr of Allah.

🤲🏼May Allah Ta’ala bless the soul of Hazrat Moulana Haroon saheb (rahimahullah) and allow us to be more particular about the core ingredient/ constituent of our existence; time.🤲🏼

Lesson 15, Maintaining relationships

As humans, we are prone to having various types of relationships with others.
As Muslims, we are taught to honour good relationships.
On one occasion, an elderly lady visited Nabi (sallallahu ’alayhi wasallam). He enquired about her and gave her added attention. When she left, Sayyidah ‘Aishah (radiyallahu ’anha) asked: ‘Why did you give so much attention to this old woman?’
Nabi (sallallahu ’alayhi wasallam) replied: “She used to visit us during the life of Khadijah [i.e., She was a friend of hers], and to maintain old relationships is a part of Iman.”
(Mustadrak Hakim vol.1, pg.15)

Hazrat Moulana Haroon Abasoomar (rahimahullah) had a unique passion for this sublime quality. He would often quote the last part of the above Hadith as inspiration.
Hazrat (rahimahullah) would go to great lengths to meet people who may have not been his relatives, but with whom he had old ties.
This included those who had ties to his respected father (rahimahullah) as well.
The children and grandchildren of his teachers, or spiritual shaykh were close to his heart.
Irrespective of where he was in his travels, he always ensured to meet such people.
Sometimes he would remind the person of the relationship and reason for his visit, by saying: “You are my father’s friend.” Or “You are my Ustad’s son.” etc. thereby expressing his sincerity in that action, and his regard for that particular senior.

Hazrat (rahimahullah) would frequently go out of his way to meet such people, or to support them morally and even financially, if needed.
At times, he would undertake lengthy journeys for this.

He often messaged such individuals who were far away, or even phoned them when possible.
He would say: “A phone call is half a meeting.”

This endeared Hazrat (rahimahullah) to the people.

Unfortunately today, this important quality is fast becoming extinct.
The only relationships that are maintained are the ones we seek material gain from!
The habit of meeting people purely for the sake of Allah is very much appreciated by Allah Ta’ala Himself.
In a Hadith Qudsiy, Allah Ta’ala says:
“My love is binding for those who love, meet & visit each other for my sake.”
(Musnad Ahmad, hadith: 22030 & Sahih Ibn Hibban, hadith: 575)

Our communities will enjoy much more harmony and unity with the implementation of the above Sunnah.

🤲🏼 May Allah Ta’ala reward Hazrat (rahimahullah) and raise his ranks in Jannatul Firdaws. Amin.

Lesson 14, Love for the symbols of Islam

Allah Ta’ala says in the Holy Quran:
‘And whoever honours the symbols of Allah, it is certainly out of the piety of the heart.’
(Surah Haj: verse 32)

Hazrat Moulana Haroon Abasoomar (rahimahullah) had a deep and sincere love for all the symbols of Islam. Whether it was the Masajid, the Quran Sharif, the Madaris, books of Deeni knowledge, the Huffaz, ‘Ulama, those engaged in the effort of da’wah & tabligh, Hazrath Moulana maintained respect and adab for all of them.

🚰He never touched any academic book of Islamic knowledge without wudu. When it came to the adab & respect of the Quran Sharif, he would never allow Quran recital to be played in the background while people were engaged in conversation, trade, etc. He would say: ‘Either remain silent and listen to the Quran Sharif or switch it off.’

📚Whenever he heard someone reciting the Quran Sharif beautifully; or an inspiring lecturer delivering a discourse on Deen, his sincere admiration for them would be visible on his face, and he would even speak about it to his close associates.

🏙️When he visited new cities, he had a passion to see and admire the Masajid. Whenever he passed by any Masjid, he would recite Durud Sharif.
🛫On his travels abroad, when his hosts would offer to take him on a tour of the famous landmarks, monuments, etc, he would refuse and say: ‘Show me a Masjid or a Madrasah. I’m more comfortable there.’
Hazrat (rahimahullah) would go out of his way to visit senior ‘Ulama and Huffaz locally and on his travels.
His admiration and love for the brothers of tabligh was unparalleled.
He even appreciated elderly Muslims.
He often kissed the elderly folk on their foreheads out of respect for them.
🗺️Wherever he went in the world, he always kept himself connected with the above people and places.

🪦When he visited a grave, then as a mark of respect, he would remove his sandals and stand on them.

🕋Similarly, his attachment to the Haramayn Shareef was unique.
Whenever he went for Haj or ‘Umrah, his habit was to sit in ‘ibadah in the Haram from before Fajr till Ishraq and from Asr till after Esha.
He disliked and avoided arguing with the residents of the Haramayn.

💡He would check if the toilets and beds in the hotel room were positioned such that the feet faced the qiblah, in which case he would either ask for it to be changed or sleep on the opposite side of the bed, so that his head faced the qiblah instead of his feet.
🕋 His respect for the qiblah extended to even when he placed his sandals on a shoe rack in any Masjid. He ensured that they did not face the qiblah.
Hazrat Moulana (rahimahullah) never read salah on a Musalla that had a sketch of the Ka’bah or a Masjid on it. He considered having these sketches disrespectful since they were being placed on the floor.

🔉The Adhan is also termed a unique symbol of Islam.
Hazrat Moulana Haroon (rahimahullah) was extremely particular about respecting the Adhan and muadhins.
He remained silent during the Adhan, whilst replying to it loudly. He would recite the du’a after Adhan loudly too, as a reminder to others.

🕌Hazrat (rahimahullah), being an Imam for over forty years, was extremely particular about maintaining the sanctity of the Masjid.
He was firm in cautioning people who violated the sanctity of the Masjid, be it in the form of them raising their voices, their cellphones ringing, or even their dressing inside the Masjid. He disliked it when someone entered the Masjid without a hat/topi, and on many occasions, he offered such people one of his own hats.
Just as Hazrat (rahimahullah) loved & respected Mubarak places, he also loved & respected Mubarak times. He would ensure to maximise his benefit from blessed occasions by remaining fully engaged in ‘badah & especially du’a. These times extended to Fridays after ‘Asr, the 15th night of Sha’ban, throughout Ramadan & specifically the last moments of Ramadan, followed by the night of Eid. It was practically impossible to talk to him during on these occasions,(Rahimahullah).

❗It is extremely sad to note the extent of disregard for most of the above in our societies currently.

May Allah Ta’ala bless the soul of Hazrat Moulana Haroon saheb (rahimahullah) and grant us the ability to uphold the sanctity of Islam in all forms.

Lesson 13, The Power of Du’a

Sayyiduna Abu Hurayrah (radiyallahu ’anhu) reports that Rasulullah (sallallahu ’alayhi wasallam) said: ‘Make du’a to Allah with conviction of acceptance.’ (Sunan Tirmidhi, Hadith: 3479)

When asking from Allah Ta’ala, one should always envisage Allah’s unlimited treasures and power.
Hazrat Moulana Haroon Abasoomar (rahimahullah) had a distinguished level of conviction in the power of du’a.
When he had any type of need, he would resort to du’a in earnest and he would ultimately see the results.
Those who spent time with him would also witness this.

Hazrat (rahimahullah) had conviction that every issue can be solved through du’a.

He would fondly remember the level of conviction in du’a that his senior Ustad; Hazrat Moulana Muhammad Yusuf Binnory (rahimahullah) had, and he would quote examples of ‘Allamah Binnory in this regard.

Hazrat Moulana Haroon saheb (rahimahullah) would habitually recite the following words during times of urgency:

ياسُبُّوحُ ياقُدُّوسُ ياغَفُورُ ياوَدُودُ

Ya Subbuhu Ya Quddusu Ya Ghafuru Ya Wadudu

[This is a prescription of Hazrat Haji Imdadullah -rahimahullah-]

For the sick he would prescribe the du’a of Sayyiduna ‘Ali (radiyallahu’anhu):

اللّٰهُمَّ ياحَليمُ ياكَريمُ اِشْفِ.

Allahumma Ya Halimu Ya Karimu ishfi

[followed by the name of the sick person]

He would encourage its abundant recital with conviction of cure.

Hazrat (rahimahullah) was known for his lengthy du’as, especially on blessed occasions.
He would admiringly cite examples of the pious elders who would spend hours in du’a.
Hazrat (rahimahullah) valued du’as to the extent that it would pain him if he missed out on the opportunity for du’a at some blessed occasion.

As an inspiration to himself and others, he would also share incidents of how he witnessed speedy acceptance of du’as made by himself or others whom he knew personally.

On one occasion, Hazrat (rahimahullah) visited a patient who was critically ill with organ failure. After a few weeks Hazrat enquired from the father about the condition of his son. To his amazement the father said that the son has made a complete recovery. The father said: ‘I made du’a and I told Allah: O Allah you are Most Capable and Powerful. You can make the impossible: possible.’

With the blessing of the du’a of the father, the son made a full recovery.
Hazrat (rahimahullah) would often quote these words very fondly to others who had dire needs, as an inspiration to them.

He would also encourage parents to make du’as for the success of their children. He would say: The [kind of] dua that the father and mother can make for a person, nobody else can.

In the latter part of his life when Hazrat took ill, many well-wishers would inform him that they constantly make du’a for his recovery. In fact, there were many who told him that they remember him every time they make du’a!

Hazrat (rahimahullah) would get extremely happy and become very appreciative of their kind gestures.

Such was Hazrat’s (rahimahullah) conviction in du’a that during the last hours of his life, he contacted many friends and associates to request their du’as. He sent messages via others to those whom he couldn’t contact directly, to ask for du’a on his behalf.

The reader is requested to kindly remember Hazrat Moulana (rahimahullah) in du’a whenever possible, as this is indeed something he would appreciate very much.

In fact, remembering a fellow Muslim, and more so a pious Muslim in du’a is a means of one’s own du’as being accepted.

May Allah Ta’ala bless Hazrat with complete maghfirat, mercy and the highest stages in the Akhirah.

Lesson 12, The Sunnah of Gifting

Offering gifts (hadiyyahs) to each other is a noble trait and well encouraged in Islam.
People around the globe have the habit of gifting each other on special occasions.
In a famous Hadith, Nabi (sallallahu’alayhi wasallam) said:
‘Exchange gifts, & you will generate mutual love.’
(Al-Adabul Mufrad, hadith: 594)

Hazrat Moulana Haroon Abasoomar saheb (rahimahullah) would always endeavour to offer something to his hosts as well as his guests.
Even when he met young children, he would gift them candy.
💡 During his latter years, he passionately liked to offer monetary gifts to Senior ‘Ulama.
He would also encourage others to do the same. Among the reasons for this were:
a) He knows his needs better, & can use the money wherever needed.
b) If the ‘Alim was visiting, he might be restricted in what he can take in his luggage.
c) This endears the giver to the heart of that person.

✅ He would say: ‘We need to teach this to the people.’

👌🏽Repaying the Gift
Whilst the giver should always be sincere and offer his gift purely for thawab and the pleasure of Allah, without expecting anything in return, the Sunnah of Nabi (sallallahu’alayhi wasallam) also teaches us to repay every gift.
Sayyiduna ‘Abdullah ibn ‘Umar (radiyallahu’anhuma) reports that Nabi (sallallahu’alayhi wasallam) said:
‘You should repay everyone who does good to you. If you cannot afford to repay him [materially], then make du’a for him until you feel that you’ve repaid him.’
(Sunan Abi Dawud, hadith: 1669)

Hazrat Moulana Haroon Abasoomar (rahimahullah) had this unique quality as well.
He would offer whatever gift he could afford to people who rendered service of any kind to him.
From those who drove him or attended to him when he was ill, to those who invited him to their homes. Even the Doctors & Specialists who willingly rendered their service, Hazrat (rahimahullah) would always try to gift them something in return.
💡 Most of his gifts were either ‘itr (perfume), Kitabs, or something edible or wearable.
🤲🏼 In addition to this, Hazrat Moulana Haroon saheb (rahimahullah) would also make sincere du’a for such people.
He would remember them by name in his du’as on special occasions, like during ‘Umrah or on the plains of ‘Arafat.
He would remind his family as well to make du’a for such people.

💕This is the bare minimum that we could do for our benefactors, as explained by Our Beloved Nabi (sallallahu’alayhi wasallam) in the Hadith cited above.
This sincere appreciation that Hazrat (rahimahullah) had is what actually endeared him to the people even more.
Just as the Our Nabi (sallallahu’alayhi wasallam) said: Exchange gifts and you will have mutual love…

🤲🏼 May Allah Ta’ala bless the soul of Hazrat (rahimahullah) and reward him duly for the beautiful implementation and propagation of the Mubarak Sunnah of Rasulullah (sallallahu’alayhi wasallam) that he rendered throughout his life.

Lesson 11, Bringing joy to a Muslim

Sayyiduna Anas (radiyallahu’anhu) reports that Rasulullah (sallallahu’alayhi wasallam) said:
‘Whoever does for his brother what pleases him, solely to bring him joy, Allah will bring joy to him on the day of Qiyamah.’

(Al-Mu’jamus saghir, hadith: 1178)

Other narrations have labelled this deed as: ‘The most virtuos of deeds’ & ‘A sure means of forgiveness.’

(Tabarani; Targhib, hadith: 3878/9)

Hazrat Moulana Haroon Abasoomar saheb (rahimahullah) was always cognisant of this deed.
Hazrat (rahimahullah) had a tactful way of cheering up whoever he met, the rich, the poor, friends and family or strangers, he was able to put a smile on everyone’s face, including young children, thus leaving people with a lasting impression/fond memory.

💡He would think of unique ways in which to make a person smile.
👌🏽When greeting, especially the poor or indigenous brothers, he would meet them with a smile, with his arms wide open and hug them warmly, and thereafter admire their smile.
He took a lot of satisfaction from this noble deed.
👌🏽When visiting the sick, he would use warm & encouraging words. He would also promise the person that he will take his name and make du’a for him. This would bring added joy to the sick patient.
👌🏽When giving charity, he would encourage his associates to give more than is expected, to add to the joy of the poor.
👌🏽When buying from vendors on the street, he would encourage to pay more than the asking price.

He always encouraged giving out candy to children and he would say: ‘This sweet speaks all languages.’ i.e, it cheers up children all over the globe, whatever their language.

✈️Hazrat (rahimahullah) was a very well traveled person.
On his travels he met people from all countries.
👌🏽Hazrat (rahimahullah) made a concerted effort to learn the greeting of various languages and had memorised the greeting of more than 30 languages!
He would say: ‘When you -as a foreigner- greet someone in his own language, he gets more happy.’
💡Hazrat Moulana Haroon saheb (rahimahullah) actually considered bringing joy to a Muslim as an act of ‘ibadah. That is why he went to such lengths to implement it. He would often quote the above mentioned Hadiths on such occasions, as a reminder of the huge rewards for this unique deed.

🤲🏼 May Allah Ta’ala bless us with this noble trait too, as it is a sign of pure sincerity.
May Allah Ta’ala fill Hazrat Moulana’s (rahimahullah) grave with mercy and noor & raise his stages in Jannah. Ameen.

Lesson 10, Spread the Salam

Nabi (sallallahu ’alayhi wasallam) was once asked: ‘Which qualities of Islam are the best?’ He replied: ‘feeding the people and saying Salam to those whom you know and those whom you do not know.’ (Sahih Bukhari)

Hazrat Moulana Haroon Abasoomar (rahimahullah) was extremely particular about the Salam. He would always be the first to greet one and all, whether the person was known to him or not.

If someone forgot to say the Salam, he would promptly remind him about it. He even would emphasise on the children to say the Salam properly.

Hazrat (rahimahullah) would constantly encourage the following:

 1️. Make the full Salam.

2️. Loud enough for others to hear and reply.

3️. Greet even those Muslims whom you do not know. We are all brothers.

Whilst in the Haramain or any large gathering he would love to spread the Salam saying: ‘We might not meet these people again in our life’.

Sayyiduna ‘Abdullah ibn ‘Umar (radiyallahu ’anhu) had the habit of intentionally going into crowded shopping areas, with the only motive of spreading the Salam. (Muwatta Imam Malik)

Sadly today, the habit of saying Salam is diminishing rapidly.

In Islam we are taught that whenever two Muslims meet/cross paths they should exchange Salam.

One should never feel shy or proud to practice on the Sunnah.

May Allah Ta’ala grant us the ability to revive and hold onto this noble Sunnah of Nabi (sallallahu ’alayhi wasallam).

May Allah Ta’ala fill the grave of Hazrat Moulana (rahimahullah) with mercy and raise his ranks in Jannah. Ameen.

Lesson 9, Constant engagement in Dhikr

Sayyidah ‘Aishah (radiyallahu’anha) said: ‘Nabi (sallallahu’alayhi wasallam) would be engaged in the Dhikr of Allah, all the time.’ (Sahih Muslim)

The life of a true believer is always centered around Allah Ta’ala and His Messenger (sallallahu’alayhi wasallam).

Hazrat Moulana Haroon Abasoomar saheb (rahimahullah) had the Noble habit of being engaged in the Dhikr of Allah as much as possible. This included: reciting the masnun du’as for the various occasions, the tilawah (recital) of Quran e Majid as well as other general forms of tasbih, tahlil, istighfar & other Dhikrs.

Whilst driving his car, he would mostly engage in Quran recital. If not, then he would be reciting Dhikr on his counter. All his life, Hazrat (rahimahullah) always had a Dhikr counter in his pocket. If for some reason he could not find his counter, he would get very perturbed.

When waiting for the Iqamah before Salah, or when in a queue, or sitting unengaged in anything particular, he ensured not to let those moments pass without Dhikr. Inside his home, he had several counters for use at different parts of the house.

Whilst waiting for food, after Salah, or even whilst on his bed he would have the counter in his hand.

At the end of his life, during the dialysis sessions, or whilst being taken in his wheelchair to visit the sick patients in the hospital, he would also ensure to have his counter on his finger.

Hazrat (rahimahullah) was indeed a great ‘Dhaakir’ (one who remembers) Allah Ta'ala.

In fact, he impressed this on the little children of his family as well. When he would hear them singing nursery rhymes or uttering useless sentences, he would instruct them as well, to rather make Dhikr, or recite Durud sharif.  He would explain to them the incentive of Dhikr being a means of acquiring trees in Jannah.

Hazrat (rahimahullah) had the habit of reciting the masnun du’as for different occasions audibly, as a reminder to those around him. He would also do the same when replying to the Adhan, whilst ensuring everyone remained silent.

May Allah Ta’ala grant Hazrat Moulana (rahimahullah) the highest of stages in Jannah, & inspire us to increase our remembrance of Allah.

Lesson 8, Love for the Sunnah

It is the belief of every Muslim that the only way to successfully enter Jannah is by following the Sunnah of our Beloved Nabi Muhammad (sallallahu ’alayhi wasallam). The Sunnah is all encompassing and absolutely simple as well as easy to implement.

Hazrat Moulana Haroon Abasoomar (rahimahullah) possessed unique love for the Sunnah. He would always ensure that every deed is done in accordance to the Sunnah.

Upon learning of a Sunnah that he was unaware of, he would immediately try to implement it in his life.

He would constantly remind others about the Sunnah as well. He would consider missing a Sunnah as a calamity, and recite inna lillah... if that occurred.

If he misplaced his miswak, he would become upset and disturbed. He wouldn’t drink a tablet without sitting and covering his head.

Hazrat Moulana (rahimahullah) was also extremely punctual on the recital of the masnun du’as for various occasions. He would repeatedly remind his associates [including little children] of the du’as too.   He had the noble habit of reciting these du’as loudly as a reminder to others.

Reviving Sunnahs that were uncommon in society was very dear to him. He would often lecture on the Sunnah from the mimbar, as well as in the classroom and informal gatherings. Likewise, he would strictly condemn anything that was done contrary to the Sunnah.

Allah Ta'ala had used Hazrat (rahimahullah) to revive numerous Sunnahs wherever he went. Many people in the country and abroad were inspired to implement the Sunnahs that they were lacking in. Through his inspiration, several people grew full beards, changed their dressing in accordance to the Sunnah and developed a close attachment to the Sunnah.

Hazrat Moulana Haroon saheb (rahimahullah) would often repeat the words of Hazrat Moulana Abrarul Haq saheb (rahimahullah) regarding the Sunnah:

‘It is:

  1. The easiest
  2. Most complete/perfect
  3. And Least expensive

way to do anything.’

May Allah Ta’ala bless Hazrat’s soul and grant one and all the tawfiq to follow the Sunnah in all aspects of life. Amin.

Lesson 7, Love for the Quran Karim

Hazrat Moulana Haroon Abasoomar (rahimahullah) had a deep love for the kalam of Allah; the Holy Quran.
He could spend hours reciting it, listening to its recital from others as well as pondering over its meaning.
In fact, whenever he recited Quran he pondered over its meaning.

Hazrat (rahimahullah) had great admiration for the Huffaz & would diligently attend Hifz Khatam Jalsahs.
He would also lecture in detail about the rights of the Quran on the Ummah.

Hazrat Moulana (rahimahullah) had a habit of reciting Qur’an Sharif daily and he preferred doing so whilst looking into the Quran itself. So profound was his love for this action that he would even recite Quran Sharif in this manner while driving.
He would often say that the enjoyment (lutf) is much more when looking into the Quran, just as it is more rewarding as well.
Hazrat (rahimahullah) always emphasised reciting slowly with full tajweed.

He would also make several intentions before Quran recital.
Among them were:
1. To attain Allah’s pleasure.
2. To gain closeness to Allah.
3. To attain the Nur & Barakah of the Quran.
4. For the reward.
5. For Shifa.
6. It’s the right of the Quran to recite it.
7. To ponder over its meaning.

Hazrat Moulana (rahimahullah) would sometimes say: ‘I wish I could just seclude myself to recite Quran Sharif and for understanding its meanings.

Hazrat Moulana (rahimahullah) had the habit of aptly recalling the verses of the Quran that pertain to different situations of life, on those respective occasions.
He would do so wherever he was, and not only in a lecture or in a classroom. This was a unique feature in his life.

His love to recite Quran Sharif remained until the end of his life.
Even in his final Ramadan (one month before his demise), despite his ill health and dialysis treatments, he completed the Quran Sharif in his Taraweeh salah as well.

Hazrat was the first Hafiz in his family, which is now blessed with close to 20 Huffaz.
With his encouragement, many others also became Huffaz.
In his initial years at Isipingo Beach masjid, he taught Hifz as well.
Hazrat was also instrumental in founding several other Hifz classes in different parts of the country.

🤲🏼 May Allah Ta’ala shower his soul with mercies and bless us with tawfiq of bonding with the Quran Sharif. Amin.

Lesson 6, Expecting the rewards of deeds (ihtisab)

The Quran and Hadith are filled with warnings against sins and the virtues of good deeds. A believer ought to have yaqin (conviction) on the incentives mentioned by Allah and His Messenger (sallallahu ’alayhi wasallam). This is the most effective way of being inspired to obedience.

One who has the rewards of deeds in mind, will not shy away from those deeds.

💡One quality of our Beloved Nabi (sallallahu ’alayhi wasallam) with which he has been repeatedly described in the Quran is: Al-Mubash-shir (The conveyor of glad tidings). Our Nabi (sallallahu ’alayhi wasallam) has mentioned innumerable glad tidings for various deeds of obedience.
Every branch of Islam has a virtue attached to it.

💡Hazrat Moulana Haroon Abasoomar saheb (rahimahullah) would always remind himself and his associates of the rewards of acts of virtue when the opportunity for those deeds arose.

💳When passing by a shopping area, no matter how small an area it may be, he would recite the du’a for the market place. He would always encourage his companions to do the same and remind them of the ‘million rewards’ that are achieved through its recital, in addition to ‘the million sins forgiven and a house in Jannah.’

🏥When visiting the sick, he would quote the Hadiths that promise huge rewards for this noble deed.

🕋When in the Haramayn he would love to give charity to attain the multiplied rewards of virtuous deeds in the blessed lands. In fact, he would send sadaqah with others, to be given to the beggars of the Holy lands with the expectation of those rewards.

💰When discharging zakat or even voluntary charity (sadaqah) he would look for the most worthy and rewarding causes. He would even discuss this with his associates to decide which was the most rewarding avenue.

🤝🏻Even when engaging in mundane deeds like greeting an elderly Muslim, or putting a smile on the face of a Muslim etc. he would be fully cognisant of the merits of those deeds.

🏝️When at the ocean, he would remind those he was with to recite Allahu Akbar forty times with the crashing of each wave as this is a means of forgiveness of sins.

🌳When encouraging the recital of Subhanallah, Alhamdulillah and Allahu Akbar, he would mention the incentive of each sentence yielding a tree in Jannah.

This noble habit of Moulana (rahimahullah) has had a profound effect on all, young and old.
Several people recall these reminders of Hazrat (rahimahullah) and attribute their steadfastness on a particular practice to this.

🤲🏼 May Allah Ta’ala grant us all this unique quality of ihtisab (expectation of reward). May Allah grant Hazrat the highest of stages in Jannah. Amin

Lesson 5, Pondering over Allah’s Creation

Marvelling over the power of our Creator through His creation is a potent spiritual booster.
It is one of the most effective ways of recognising Allah Ta’ala.

In many verses of the Quran, Allah ‘Azza wa Jall, asks of man to look at the creation for the purpose of recognising Him.
Hazrat Moulana Haroon Abasoomar saheb (rahimahullah) had this noble habit of seeing Allah in His creation.

• From lush pastures to colourful arrangements of flowers, to the birds, animals, the Ocean & fish, he would always be awestruck at the Qudrat (power) of Allah, always reciting loudly:
Allahu Akbar (Allah is the greatest)
Or
Subhaanallah (Glory be to Allah).
He would encourage those with him to do the same: marvel at Allah’s qudrat, & recite Allahu Akbar/Subhaanallah.

• When going on a journey, one intention that he would always make was: to see the power of Allah in His creation (Mushahada-e-Qudrat).

•He would keenly visit well kept gardens or orchards just to appreciate the different types of flowers & trees.
The huge ocean, the countless grains of sand or even just a single leaf 🍃 would grab his attention, while often reciting the verses of the Quran that discuss those topics.

• His fascination with animals was such that he frequently asked friends to research information about them in encyclopaedias or from the Internet. He had stacks of Print-outs with such information.
Among the many, were the Blue whales, the cows, goats & sheep, the bees & ants, different parts of the human body etc.

• Moulana (rahimahullah) once visited a farm in Port Elizabeth that had several dozens of breeds of chickens! Keenly observing Allah’s Qudrat.
The huge number of the animal species was of much interest to him, as it showed how Great a Creator our Allah is.
إن ربك هو الخلاق العليم
Indeed your Rabb is the Knowing Creator.
(Surah Hijr, verse: 86)

• Together with marvelling at Allah’s creation privately, he also spoke about it in his lectures.

Attention to the perfection in the detail of Allah’s creation

• He was often taken aback by the affection that Allah Ta’ala placed in the mother’s of the animal kingdom for their young.

• Similarly, child psychology would amaze him & He would admire the understanding that Allah granted children.

• Hazrat (rahimahullah) would quote about one of his Egyptian teachers from the madrasah in Karachi, that on one occasion a very elderly person who was still healthy, extremely fit and active walked passed the classroom. The Ustad remarked:

سُبحانَ مَنْ أعطاه الصحة!

Glory be to the One (Allah) who granted this man such wonderful health!

It was as though everything he saw reminded him of Allah Ta’ala.
Such recognition (Ma’rifat) of Allah is attained by chosen slaves of Allah.

• On these occasions, Hazrat Moulana (rahimahullah) would frequently quote the famous Arabic couplet:

وفي كل شيء له آية، تدل على أنه واحد

Every single thing has a sign of Allah’s Oneness.

💡It’s definitely there, for those who want to see it…
🤲🏼May Allah Ta’ala fill the grave of Hazrat Moulana Haroon saheb with noor & grant us the ability to follow in his footsteps.

Lesson 4, Feeling the pain of the Ummah

Hazrat Moulana Haroon Abasoomar (rahimahullah) considered himself in relation to the Ummah, as one limb of a single body.

• Sayyiduna Nu’man Ibn Bashir (radiyallahu’anhu) reports that Rasulullah (sallallahu’alayhi wasallam) said: ‘The Muslims are like [the body of] one man; if his eye pains, his whole body pains & if his head pains, his whole body pains.’
(Sahih Muslim)

This Hadith was a reality in the heart of Hazrat (rahimahullah).
He genuinely felt part of the same body.
The suffering of any Muslim, in any part of the world would grieve him.

• He would often say: ‘How can we be at ease when so many brothers & sisters are suffering throughout the globe.’

• With the help of Allah, Hazrat Moulana initiated a relief project for the Syrian refugees from his Masjid. In this regard, a few years ago, a huge orphanage as well as a bakery was set up under his guidance.
They continue to function till this day.
Thousands of Syrian refugees receive bread daily from this bakery.
• Hazrath Moulana (rahimahullah) held special programs for the women folk at the time of various crises and exhorted them to contribute in the path of Allah Ta’ala.
On more than one occasion, the women folk would happily part with their wealth & jewellery for these noble causes.
This reminds one of the life of the Sahabah (radiyallahu’anhum). Our Nabi (sallallahu’alayhi wasallam) also encouraged the Sahbiyyat to donate to charity from their jewellery, and they aptly did so.

• Moulana (rahimahullah) would also contribute from his personal money towards relief projects for suffering Muslims throughout the world.

• In the wake of the tsunami disaster in southeast Asia in 2004, Hazrat (rahimahullah) travelled [& encouraged other influential businessmen to also travel] to the affected areas and provide support in whatever way possible.

• During the xenophobic attacks in our country, the Isipingo Beach Masjid was active in assisting the misplaced brothers & sisters.

• Any person he encountered that was in genuine need, he made a sincere effort to assist him, either by himself, or by instructing others to attend to it.
Our Din is so beautiful, that if one cannot personally assist the needy, he can still acquire reward if he intercedes on their behalf to someone who can assist. (Sahih Bukhari)

• The state of orphans & widows always pitied him.
Whenever possible he tried to support them with his personal means.
Hazrath Moulana (rahimahullah) had a special affinity with orphans. He had made arrangements that everyday, at least one hot meal must be sent to the home of 3 orphan children. Alhamdulillah this was done daily during his lifetime and still continues to this day. May Allah Ta’ala make it a means of Thawaab jaariyah for Moulana. Aameen.

• Every month Hazrat Moulana (rahimahullah) would send money from his own wages to a particular widow in the locality to assist her financially.
In addition to her being a widow, her late husband used to serve and make khidmat of Moulana’s late father (rahimahumallah). Two months before Hazrat Moulana passed away, he even increased the stipend. Among the last instructions that Moulana (rahimahullah) gave on his way to the hospital the day he passed away, was to ensure that this widow receives her allowance. Alhamdulillah this legacy is also continuing to this day.

• He always encouraged fervent du’as for all Muslims, especially those who are suffering.
Du’a is a great weapon, whose value we unfortunately do not realise.

🤲🏼May Allah Ta’ala fill the grave of Hazrat Moulana Haroon saheb with noor & grant us the ability to follow in his footsteps.

Lesson 3, Support for all forms of service to Islam

Hazrat Moulana Haroon Abasoomar (rahimahullah) was blessed by Almighty Allah with a very intelligent mind, big heart and broad horizons.
Allah Ta’ala chose him to actively serve Islam in several forms, like being an Imam, a teacher, a lecturer/ Da’i, a reformer and a community leader.
Despite most of his service being in the field of Islamic knowledge, da’wah and islah (reformation), he showed unique admiration, appreciation and support for all avenues of service to Islam.
He admired those who served Islam sincerely on any front. This quality was a uniting force and made all feel welcomed.

• He would marvel at the brothers who would go out in tabligh and spend their own time, wealth and lives in that cause for Islam.
Their sincerity and simplicity moved him.
He made time to sit with them in the masjid & they were often invited for tea to his home.

• He would regularly get updates from those engaged in serving the poor and needy, locally and abroad.

• He (rahimahullah) actively supported the ‘Khatm Nubuwwat’ effort, which seeks to uphold the seal of Prophethood of our beloved Nabi (sallallahu’alayhi wasallam). They combat those who erroneously claim that new prophets came after Nabi (sallallahu’alayhi wasallam). Na’uthu billah! like the Qadiyanis, for example.

• He constantly kept in contact with senior ‘Ulama & Mashayikh locally & abroad, many of whom he would phone regularly.
He made a point of [as far as possible] visiting/attending the programs every senior ‘Alim or Shaykh that visited our shores. He never allowed his ill-health to be an excuse for him to miss these opportunities.

• Those who were working with the indigenous Muslims were very dear to him, & applauded by him at all times. He frequently visited their institutions.

• The establishment of Madrasahs and Masjids were extremely crucial projects in his eyes.
A month before his sad passing away, he contributed towards a Masjid in a Syrian refugee camp inside Syria. He named it: Masjid Abrar
(Masjid of the pious)
Taraweeh salah was also performed in this masjid in Ramadan.
This Masjid also serves as a maktab/madrasah for the children in that camp.

All of the above avenues, as well as others, he admired & supported through du’as, advice/guidance and with financial assistance when possible.

• Despite his busy schedule, coupled with his ill health over the last years of his life, Hazrat Moulana (rahimahullah) took out time to sit with those involved in tabligh, social work, humanitarian work, etc. to listen to there kaarguzaari (reports/updates) and to advise them, as well as take lessons from them, which he would share with others.
• Those who were afar, he would regularly phone them for updates and to share his advice and experience.

• He felt it his duty to make du’a for such people.
In his du’as, he specifically mentioned all of the above, as well as the: authors, lecturers, teachers, reformers, aid workers, and every one serving Islam & the truth sincerely.

He would remind others to do the same and explain that by making du’a for such people, we get a share in their rewards too.

This is based on the following Hadith:
Sayyiduna Anas (radiyallahu’anhu) reports that when the Muhajirun came to Nabi (sallallahu’alayhi wasallam) and stated that the Ansar have served them so well, & they feared that the Ansar would take all the rewards.
Rasulullah (sallallahu’alayhi wasallam) replied:
‘That will not happen, as long as you make dua for them and praise them [for their efforts].’
i.e, If you do so, you will also be rewarded.
(Sunan Abi Dawud, Sunan Tirmidhi & others)
Truly, it felt like Hazrat (rahimahullah) perceived himself to be physically as well as spiritually part of the efforts of those whom he made du’a for, & he expected his share of reward from those efforts too…
It was as if he took all as his own.

🤲🏼 May Allah Ta’ala grant us such big hearts, like Hazrat’s, which will unite us in upholding the flag of Islam.
May Allah Ta’ala fill the grave of Hazrat Moulana Haroon saheb with noor & grant us the ability to follow in his footsteps.

Lesson 2, No Racism in Islam

Hazrat Moulana Haroon saheb (rahimahullah) was very vocal against racism and xenophobia in all its ugly forms.
He lectured on this topic in many venues.

He would always quote the famous Hadith on this topic:
‘There is no superiority for an Arab over a non Arab, nor for a white person over a black person, but by virtue of their taqwa.’
(Ahmad & Tabarani)

In addition to lecturing, he practically demonstrated exemplary character towards our indigenous Muslims & foreign Muslims.
Hazrat (rahimahullah) had the extraordinary habit of cheerfully greeting such people & embracing them in his arms.
He would say:
‘These brothers feel inferior, we should make them feel superior.
See how happy they get when we greet them properly.’
👌🏽When foreign Muslims migrated to the area from their countries, he would try -in different ways- to make them feel most welcomed and comfortable. He would instruct his family to do the same.
He would light heartedly say to any Indian Muslim who relocated to our country: You are better than us, we troubled our forefathers to migrate from India [a century ago]. You came yourselves.’
This was his way of making them comfortable and to show that we are no different.

💡To emphasise on the brotherhood of Islam & to remove any indifference, he (rahimahullah) would tell his associates to refer to them as:
Our Pakistani/Indian/Somali brothers.
Or
Our African Muslim brothers.
Ensuring to include the word ‘brother’ to demonstrate the unity of Islam.

💎On many occasions when he visited a different masjid, he first greeted the muadhin in his cheerful manner. He would also greet them in their language, which would bring smiles to their faces.
He considered such Muslims most worthy of charity.
He also admired those who served the indigenous community in any form; be it charity, other support and through madrasahs.
He considered every Muslim part of his family & would take sincere pity on those who deserved pity.
In his final lecture too (10 days prior to his demise) he spoke on this topic.

🤲🏼 May Allah fill his qabr with noor & grant us the ability to follow in his footsteps.

Lesson 1, Having multiple intentions

Among the most popular Hadiths is the one that says:

إنما الأعمال بالنيات

All actions are rewarded according to the intentions.

Moulana Haroon (rahimahullah) would encourage his companions to make multiple intentions, for every deed.
For example:
When going to the masjid or to attend a Jalsah or ijtima’ (Islamic/tabligh gathering)
He would say,
Let’s make the intention of:
1. Offering salah with jama’ah.
2. Meeting and greeting fellow Muslims. (He was very particular about spreading the salam)
3. Smiling at fellow Muslims, thereby bringing joy to them. (This was a unique feature of Hazrat, & will be expounded on in a future broadcast insha Allah)
4. Benefitting from the learned ‘Ulama. (Another unique feature in his life, like the next one)
5. Visiting any sick person if possible.
Based on a Hadith, he would say, by making this particular intention, we will be in Allah’s mercy throughout the journey. He would make this intention too when travelling far away, even overseas.
6. If there is anybody in need we will try to assist him.
7. If we pass by scenic areas, we will marvle at Allah’s creation. (Mushahada -e-Qudrat)
8. We will learn about our Deen.
9. If the opportunity allows, we will impart/teach Deen to others & revive the Sunnah in some way or the other.
10. With each of these we seek Allah’s pleasure.

This was Hazrat’s (rahimahullah) habit for many other deeds, he would always make multiple intentions, be it for Nafl salah, Quran recitation, charity, travel etc.

May Allah Ta’ala inspire us to do the same, thereby acquiring maximum reward for all deeds.

Sharing the meal with the helper who prepares it🥘🥪🍳

Sayyiduna Abu Hurayrah (radiyallahu ‘anhu) reports that Nabi (sallallahu ‘alayhi wa sallam) said:

“When your servant/helper brings your meal to any one of you, then if you do not make him sit with you, you should at least give him a morsel or two or a bite or two as he is the one who [prepared it].”

(Sahih Bukhari, Hadith: 2557, 5460 and Sahih Muslim, Hadith: 1663)

1️⃣ When the helper has endured the heat and smoke of preparing one's meal, one should take into consideration their feelings by giving them a share.

2️⃣ Helpers usually cannot afford what we have.

3️⃣ When one possesses something that others may be envious of, then one should not piblicise it. Further, it should be shared with those who are aware of it.

4️⃣ Practicing on this Hadith will insha Allah repel the evil eye.

🕌The Latecomer should join the Imam without delay

Nabi (sallallahu ‘alayhi wasallam) is reported to have said: “Whoever [comes for congregational Salah] and finds me in ruku’, sajdah or in the standing posture, should join me in the posture that I am in.”(Musannaf ibn Abi Shaybah,2616)

1️⃣ This Hadith advises the latecomer to immediately join the Salah, no matter which posture the Imam is in.

2️⃣ One should therefore, not delay or wait for the Imam to stand up for the next rak’ah before joining the Salah.

3️⃣ Although one will be required to repeat the rak’ah if one joins after ruku’, one will still be rewarded for the additional sajdahs.

4️⃣ Each sajdah yeilds 1 reward, sheds 1 sin & raises one’s rank in the Hereafter.(Sunan Ibn Majah, hadith:1424)

5️⃣ One should be eager to join the Salah as soon as possible. It’s our key to Jannah.

The formula for safety from fitnah ✅

Sayyiduna ‘Uqbah ibn ‘Amir (radiyallahu ‘anhu) reports that he met Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alayhi wasallam) and asked him:“How will I be saved (from sin/fitnah/punishment/destruction etc.)?"Nabi (sallallahu ‘alayhi wasallam) replied:
1️⃣ Control your tongue,
2️⃣ Let your home be spacious enough for you, and
3️⃣ Cry over your sins.

🌐 Earthquakes are a major wake-up call 🌐

Shahr ibn Hawshab (rahimahullah) says, “There was an earthquake in Madinah during the time of Nabi (sallallahu ‘alayhi wa sallam). Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alayhi wa sallam) said:
’Allah Ta’ala wants that you adopt goodness and piety and that you repent, so do so.’
(Musannaf Ibn Abi Shaybah, Hadith: 8420)

🚑The recent devastating earthquakes that occurred in Turkiye & Syria are indeed reminders from Almighty Allah for us to repent and change our ways.
🏥Death on such a large scale should terrify every believer and be more than sufficient for him/her to take heed and reform his/her life.
⏱️If after hearing about the current crisis, one did not repent and reform in some way, then the tragedy is worse!
🕌 In addition to financial aid, one should at at least offer 2 rak’ahs nafl salah, make tawbah (repent) and make earnest du’a for our fellow suffering Muslim brothers and sisters.
Let’s feel the pain of the Ummah.
📿 One should also endeavour to draw nearer to the sunnah way of life, as that is our only way of salvation.

🤲🏼 May Allah Ta’ala protect the Ummah at large from all sorts of calamities, and may Allah alleviate the suffering of all those affected with calamity throughout the globe.

📖 Reciting Quran Sharif & discharging of Zakah in Sha'ban 💰

Sayyiduna Anas (radiyallahu ‘anhu) said:
“When Sha’ban would commence, the Muslims would devote themselves to the recital of the Quran. They would also pay the Zakah due on their wealth, to support [enable] the feeble and poor to fast in Ramadan.”
(Lataiful Ma’arif, pg. 242 & Fathul Bari, hadith:7338)

💡 Additional recital of Quran during Sha’ban enables one to benefit to the maximum during Ramadan.
Whilst calculating one’s Zakat in this month also frees up the time one would’ve spent doing so during Ramadan.

🤲🏼 May Allah Ta'ala grant us the tawfiq of emulating the illustrious Sahabah (radiyallahu 'anhum) in all matters. Amin.

📈 Keeping up the momentum in Shawwal

Rasulullah (sallallahu 'alayhi wasallam) said:
“Whoever observes the fast of Ramadan and follows it up with six [fasts] in Shawwal will be [rewarded] as if he has fasted the entire year.” (Sahih Muslim, Hadith: 1164)

💡 The Commentators have explained that since every deed is multiplied ten times, by fasting in Ramadan we are actually rewarded for 300 days and not just 30. Therefore if we follow that up with six more we will be rewarded for sixty thereby attaining the reward of fasting for 360 days. 🗓️
➡️ Hafiz Ibn Rajab Al-Hambali (rahimahullah) writes:
“…the reward of fasting in Shawwal will be linked to the reward of Ramadan, and one who observes the Shawwal fast will receive the reward of observing the fard fast for the whole year. This is how Imam ‘Abdullah Ibnul Mubarak (rahimahullah) explained the issue.” (Lataiful Ma’arif, pg.314-315)

Among the reasons for fasting these six in Shawwal specifically:
1️⃣So that one does not delay in accruing this grand reward.
2️⃣It's easier to fast these six days immediately after Ramadan.
3️⃣These fasts make up for the deficiencies in our Ramadan fasts.
(Al-Mufhim, vol. 3 pg. 238; Fathul Mulhim, vol. 5 pg. 328-Dar al-Qalam and Mirqat, vol. 4 pg. 477)

Showing true respect for 'Ulama

Shaykh Muhammad ‘Awwamah (may Allah protect him) mentioned the following incident:
➡️ I once visited Mufti Mahmudul Hasan Gangohi (rahimahullah) while he was in Madinah Munawwarah. It was after ‘Asr Salah. As the time for Maghrib drew near, an attendant (khadim) enquired from Mufti saheb if he wanted to make wudu and prepare for salah.

Mufti Mahmud saheb (rahimahullah) replied:
‘How can I sit in the company of this ‘Alim without wudu?!’

📌 Shaykh ‘Awwamah comments:
‘I am not worthy of this, but look at the respect that Mufti saheb had for an ‘Alim.’

💡 Moral
When visiting ‘Ulama, we should be presentable, and ensure that we are in the state of wudu. The Sahabah (radiyallahu ‘anhum) would also aspire to be in the state of purity (taharah) when meeting Nabi (sallallahu ‘alayhi wasallam). (Sahih Bukhari)

🧴It is also recommended to apply a good scent when attending their gatherings.

🕌 The great virtues of performing Salatud Duha

Salatud Duha is a nafl Salah that is to be performed at mid-morning.
Nabi (sallallahu’alayhi wasallam) himself offered this Salah and encouraged the Ummah to do the same.
There are many virtues for this salah, among them is the following comprehensive Hadith:

Sayyiduna Abud Darda (radiyallahu ‘anhu) narrates that Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alayhi wasallam) said:
"Whosoever offers 2️⃣ rak’ahs of Salatud Duha (Chasht) will not be counted among the indolent.
One who offers 4️⃣ rak’ahs is counted among the devotees.
One who offers 6️⃣ rak’ahs, his needs for the day are taken care of.
The one who offers 8️⃣ rak’ahs is recorded among the content ones.
The one who offers 1️⃣2️⃣, Allah will build a house for him in Jannah."
(Al Mu’jamul Kabir; Majma’uz Zawaid, 2/237 & Targhib + Fathul Bari)

🕋 The great virtues of performing Hajj

Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alayhi wa sallam) then said:
1️⃣ When you leave home intending Hajj:
A good deed is written down for you and one sin is forgiven for every stride your camel takes.
2️⃣ For the two rak’ahs after tawaf:
The reward shall be as you have freed one Arab slave.
3️⃣ For Sa’i between Safa and Marwah:
The reward is like that of freeing 70 slaves.
4️⃣ For your stay in ‘Arafah:
Allah's [Mercy] descends to the lower Heaven. He boasts to the angels, saying: “I have forgiven all of your sins as well as those whom you intercede on behalf of.”
5️⃣ When stoning the jamarah:
For every stone that you throw, one [major] sin is pardoned.
6️⃣ The reward for sacrificing an animal:
This is stored by your Rabb.
7️⃣ When shaving your head:
One good deed and one sin is wiped off for each hair.
8️⃣ When performing Tawafuz Ziyarah:
Not a single sin remains upon you. An Angel says: “Now you may recommence your deeds, all your previous sins are forgiven.”
(Musnad Bazzar; Kashful Astar, Hadith: 1082)

[6] Marrying with intention of chastity

Nabi (sallallahu ‘alayhi wa sallam) said:
“Marry women, for verily they will bring wealth [through the blessing of nikah]."
(Musannaf Ibn Abi Shaybah, Hadith: 16161)

Allah Ta’ala Mentions:
“Get the unmarried ones among you married, as well as the righteous slave men and slave women. If they are poor, Allah will make them independent by his grace.”
(Surah Nur, verse: 32)

Sayyiduna ‘Abdullah ibn ‘Abbas (radiyallahu ‘anhuma), under the commentary of this verse, would say:
“Allah Ta’ala commanded and encouraged them to get married, and he promised them wealth.”

[10] Abu Musa’s Al Ash’ari (radiyallahu ‘anhu) du’a after Salah

When Abu Musa [Al ‘Ash’ari] (radiyallahu ‘anhu) would complete his Salah, he would recite:

اللَّهُمَّ اغْفِرْ لِي ذَنْبِي، وَيَسِّرْ لِي أَمْرِي، وَبَارِكْ لِي فِي رِزْقِي

Allahummagh fir li dhambi wa yassir li amri wa barik li fi rizqi

(Musannaf Ibn Abi Shaybah, Hadith: 3050 and 29865)

Translation
O Allah! Forgive my sins, make my affairs easy and grant me barakah in my sustenance.

💎 Sayyiduna ‘Abu Musa Al Ash’ari (radiyallahu ‘anhu) himself has also reported a narration which states that Nabi (sallallahu ‘alayhi wa sallam) would recite a similar du’a after Salah.
(Kitabud Du’a of Imam Tabarani, Hadith: 656)

[11] Continuously performing Hajj and 'Umrah

Sayyiduna ‘Abdullah ibn Mas’ud (radiyallahu ‘anhu) reports that Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alayhi wa sallam) said:
“Perform Hajj and ‘Umrah in succession, for they remove poverty and sins just as the bellows remove filth from iron, gold, and silver. There is no reward for an accepted Hajj except Jannah.”
(Sunan Tirmidhi, Hadith: 810, Sunan Nasai; Al Mujtaba, Hadith: 2631)

💎 Some Hadiths encourage as a minimum -for those who have the means- to at least perform Haj or ‘Umrah once every four to five years.

(Sunan Ibn Majah, Hadith: 3260, Zawaid Ibn Majah, Hadith: 1063)

💡 Allah Ta’ala has placed immense barakah (blessings) in every Sunnah of our Beloved (sallallahu’alayhi wasallam). Implementing the Sunnah totally, should be the goal of every Muslim.
