The Sahabah (radiyallahu ‘anhum) were never oblivious of Dajjal
Sayyiduna ‘Abdullah ibnul Harith ibn Jaz’ (radiyallahu ‘anhu) said:
“Whenever we heared a noise or a tremble/quaking in Madinah we thought that it was Dajjal, as Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alayhi wa sallam) [continuously] spoke to us about him and [warned] us of his appearance.“
(Musnad Bazzar, Hadith: 3787)
💡The Sahabah were taught by Nabi (sallallahu’alayhi wasallam) to reflect in this manner whenever there was a change in climate or natural circumstances.
A believer should never be oblivious during such occurrences.
🤲🏼 May Allah ‘Azza wa Jall grant us the ability of taking heed of the many catastrophes occurring throughout the globe, thereby reforming our ways for the better.
May Allah protect us and our progenies from Dajjal.

This Ummah will never be destroyed
Nabi (sallallahu ‘alayhi wa sallam) said:
“That ummah in whose beginning is me, whose end is ‘Isa ibn Maryam and whose penultimate is Mahdi, will never be destroyed.”
‘Allamah Anwar Shah Al Kashmiri (rahimahullah) has declared the Hadith sound (hasan) concurring with ‘Allamah ‘Azizi (rahimahullah).
(Faydul Qadir, 7384, At Tasrih, pg. 181, Hadith: 27, As Sirajul Munir,3/209. Also see: Al Mudawi)
✍🏼 As an Ummah, we should never lose hope in Allah’s immense mercy. Our saviour is Allah & His Messenger (sallallahu’alayhi wasallam).

Seeking protection from Dajjal, debts etc.
‘Aaishah (radiyallahu ‘anha) narrates that Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alayhi wa sallam) used to invoke Allah in Salah [before making salam to terminate the Salah]:
Transliteration:
Allahumma inni a’udhu bika min ‘adhabil qabr, wa a’udhu bika min fitnatil masihid Dajjal, wa a’udhu bika min fitnatil mahya wa fitnatil mamat. Allahumma inni a’udhu bika minal ma-thami wal maghram.
Translation:
“O Allah, I seek refuge in you from the punishment of the grave, and from the trial of Dajjal, and from the trial of life and death. O Allah, I seek refuge in you from sin and debt.”
One person said: [O Messenger of Allah!] You seek refuge in Allah very often from being in debt? He replied: “When a person is in debt, he tells lies when he speaks, and breaks his promises when he promises.”

How to save oneself from the trial of Dajjal
Sayyiduna Abud Darda (radiyallahu ‘anhu) reports that Nabi (sallallahu ‘alayhi wa sallam) said:
“Whomsoever memorises the first ten verses of Surah Kahf, will be saved from the trial of Dajjal.”
(Sahih Muslim, Hadith: 809)

Protect yourself from all trials, including Dajjal
Sayyiduna ‘Ali (radiyallahu ‘anhu) reports that Nabi (sallallahu ‘alayhi wa sallam) said:
“Whomsoever recited Surah Kahf on Friday will be protected for the [next] eight days from all trials. If Dajjal were to emerge [during those eight days], he would be protected from him.”
(Al Ahadithul Mukhtarah, Hadith: 430)

Imam Mahdi will be a regular person
Sayyiduna ‘Ali (radiyallahu ‘anhu) reports:
“The Mahdi is from us, the Ahlu Bayt. Allah will rectify him in a single night.”
(Sunan Ibn Majah, Hadith: 4085, Musnad Ahmad, vol. 1 pg. 84)
Hafiz Ibn Kathir (rahimahullah) explains: ‘Allah Ta’ala will forgive him, grant him ability and understanding, and inspire him.’
(An Nihayah Fil Fitan Wal Malahim, vol. 1 pg. 45)
‘Allamah ‘Abdul Ghani Al Mujaddidi (rahimahullah) says:
‘Allah Ta’ala will make him suitable for leadership and khilafah suddenly.
After quoting this explanation, Shaykh Muhammad ‘Awwamah (hafizahullah) states:
‘This explains that the Mahdi himself will not know that he is the Mahdi.’
(Footnotes of Shaykh Muhammad ‘Awwamah on Musannaf Ibn Abi Shaybah, Hadith: 38799)
From this we understand that the Mahdi will be a regular person, living a regular life. When Allah Ta’ala wishes for him to emerge as the Mahdi, He will rectify him.

The descension of ‘Isa (‘alayhis salam
Nabi (sallallahu ‘alayhi wasallam) has said (as part of a longer hadith):
“When ‘Isa (‘alayhis salam) descends, the leader at that time [Al Mahdi] will ask him to lead the Salah. He will say, ‘No, Some of you are [suitable] leaders over others, This is as an honour from Allah for this Ummah’ [i.e. Someone from this Ummah should lead the Salah].”
(Sahih Muslim, Hadith: 156)
Commentary
The commentators explain that if ‘Isa (‘alayhis salam) had to lead the Salah, some people may get a misconception that he has come as a Nabi with a new Shari’ah. Therefore he will opt to be a Muqtadi [for that salah].
(Fathul Bari, Hadith: 3449, and Fathul Mulhim, vol. 2 pg. 138)
Time of descension
Imams Ahmad and Hakim (rahimahumallah) have recorded a lengthy Hadith which explicitly states that ‘Isa (‘alayhis salam) will descend at the time of Fajr Salah.
(Musnad Ahmad, vol. 4 pg. 216, Mustadrak Hakim, vol. 4 pg. 478)

Du’a for a cold day
Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alayhi wa sallam) is reported to have said: ‘When a person recites the following supplication, Allah Ta’ala says to Jahannam, ‘Indeed, a servant of mine has sought refuge in Me from you, bear testimony that I have granted him salvation from you.’
لا اله الا الله ما أشدّ برد هذا اليوم، اللهمّ أجرني من زمهرير جهنّم
‘La ilaha illallahu ma ashadda barda hadhal yawm, Allahumma ajirni min zamhariri Jahannam’
Translation: There is no Diety besides Allah, how severe is the cold of today! O Allah, save us from ‘Zamharir’ of Jahannam.
The Sahabah (radiyallahu’anhum) then asked: ‘What is Zamharir?’
Rasulullah (sallallahu’alayhi wasallam) replied: ‘A cold area in Jahannam in which a non believer will be placed, and [due to the extreme freeze] his body parts will break off.’
(‘Amalul Yawmi wal Laylah, Hadith: 306)
Cold area (Zamharir) in Jahannam
It may come as a surprise to many that Jahannam also has a cold area. The following are more than enough to convince us of this phenomenon:
Sayyiduna Abu Hurayrah (radiyallahu’anhu) reported that Rasulullah (sallallahu’alayhi wasallam) said:
‘Jahannam complained to its Rabb saying: Oh My Rabb, Parts within me have devoured each other.’ So Allah allowed it two breaths; one in summer and the other in winter. Therefore the extreme heat that you experience (on earth) is caused by the heat of Jahannam and the severe cold too is due to the Az-zamharir (the extreme cold section of Jahannam).
(Sahih Bukhari, Hadith 537 and Sahih Muslim)

Fasting in the month of Allah 📆
Abu Hurayrah (radiyallahu ‘anhu) narrates that Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alayhi wasallam) said:
‘The best fast after Ramadan is the fast of the month of Allah, Muharram.’
(Sahih Muslim, Hadith: 1163)
Commentary
1️⃣ In general, it is understood that good deeds are more rewardable during the four sacred months; Muharram being one of them.
(Lataiful Ma’arif, pg.163)
2️⃣ Several Tabi’un and other scholars have selected Muharram as the best of these four months.
(Lataiful Ma’arif, pg.79)
3️⃣ Why is Muharram called the month of Allah?
The commentators of Hadith explain that Muharram is attributed to Allah Ta’ala to enhance the greatness of this month and to show its virtue. ‘Allamah Suyuti (rahimahullah) further explains that Muharram is an Islamic name, contrary to the other months, as their names remained as they were in the days of Jahiliyyah (Pre-Islamic era). Muharram was referred to as ‘Safar Al Awwal’. Allah Ta’ala changed the name to Muharram at the advent of Islam. Therefore this month is referred to as the month of Allah.
(Refer: Ad Dibaj ‘Ala Sahih Muslim ibn Al Hajjaj of ‘Allamah Suyuti, Hadith: 2747 and Tuhfatul Ahwadhi, Hadith: 740)

The duration of Dajjal’s stay
Sayyiduna Jabir ibn ‘Abdillah (radiyallahu ‘anhuma) reported that Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alayhi wa sallam) said (as part of a longer narrration):
“Dajjal will emerge when Din is weak and when knowledge is [decreasing]. His stay will be for forty days. The [first] day will be the duration of one year, the next day will be the duration of one month and the next day will like one week. The duration of the days of the rest of his stay will be as normal.”
(Mustadrak Hakim, vol. 4 pg. 530. Also see: Musnad Ahmad, vol. 3 pg. 367, Hadith: 14954)
