Fasting in the month of Muharram 📆
Abu Hurayrah (radiyallahu ‘anhu) narrates that Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alayhi wasallam) said:
‘The best fast after Ramadan is the fast of Muharram.’
(Sahih Muslim, Hadith: 1163)
Commentary
1 In general, it is understood that good deeds are more rewardable during the four sacred months; Muharram being one of them.
(Lataiful Ma’arif, pg.163)
2 Several Tabi’un and other scholars have selected Muharram as the best of these four months.
(Lataiful Ma’arif, pg.79)
3 Hafiz Ibn Rajab (rahimahullah) writes:‘
The best part of the month of Muharram is the first ten days.’
(Lataiful Ma’arif, pg.79)

🤲🏼 Another Du’a to read after eating 🥪🥘
Sayyiduna Abu Umamah (radiyallahu ‘anhu) said: “When the table cloth of Nabi (sallallahu ‘alayhi wa sallam) was raised [i.e. when he completed eating], he said:
الحَمْدُ لِلهِ كَثِيرًا طَيِّبًا مُبَارَكًا فِيهِ، غَيْرَ مَكْفِيٍّ وَلاَ مُوَدَّعٍ وَلاَ مُسْتَغْنًى عَنْهُ، رَبَّنَا
Alhamdulillahi kathiran tayyibam mubarakan fih ghayra makfiyyiw wa la muwadda’iw wa la mustaghnan ‘anhu Rabbana/Rabbuna/Rabbina
Translation:
Abundant praise be to Allah which is pure, blessed and not considered to be sufficient. Our Rabb is never abandoned [i.e. People constantly beg from Him] and He is always needed.

Get the companionship of our beloved Nabi (sallallahu ‘alayhi wasallam) in Jannah
Nabi (sallallahu ‘alayhi wasallam) offered the following priceless counsel to his devoted servant, Sayyiduna Anas (radiyallahu ‘anhu) (as part of a longer Hadith):
“O my son! If you are able to spend your day and night without having malice for anybody in your heart, then do so as this will make your hisab (accountability in the court of Allah) easy.
O my son! This is my Sunnah. Whoever revives/ loves my Sunnah loves me, and will be with me in Jannah.”
(Sunan Tirmidhi, Hadith: 2678, Ibn ‘Asakir and one narration of Tabarani)
🔎 Sadly, this quality is not identified as a Sunnah by many, whereas it is an imperative Sunnah that is widely ignored in our current times.

Rabi’ul Awwal has almost arrived, again…
Allah Ta’ala declares:
“There certainly is an example in Allah’s Messenger for he who fears Allah and the last day and remembers Allah abundantly.”
(Surah Al-Ahzab, verse: 21)
Sayyiduna Anas (radiyallahu ‘anhu) reports that Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alayhi wasallam) affectionately advised him:
“Whoever cherishes my sunnah, indeed cherishes me and whoever loves me will be with me in Jannah.”
(Sunan Tirmidhi, Hadith: 2678. Classified as “hasan” –sound- by Imam Tirmidhi (rahimahullah)
Sentimental events
The above and other such verses and Hadiths are frequently heard and recited during the month of Rabi’ul-Awwal, the month in which the birth and demise of Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alayhi wasallam) occurred.
Huge gatherings are held, sentiments are elevated and hearts become soft upon hearing the details of these events. Resolutions of adhering to the Sunnah are made, and love for Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alayhi wasallam) is increased.
As Muslims, we believe that every Sunnah of our beloved Nabi (sallallahu ‘alayhi wasallam) is filled with nur (divine light) and blessing of Allah Ta’ala. Therefore, the illustrious Sahabah (radiyallahu ‘anhum) and Muhaddithun (Scholars of Hadith) took great pains in preserving the noble Hadiths and Sunnah of Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alayhi wasallam). Through their sacrifices Allah Ta’ala has facilitated a huge amount of literature in which the sacred Hadith is preserved up to this day so that it can be adopted even by the Ummati (follower) of the 15th century of Islam.

Feeling the pain of the Ummah
An essential part of the culture of Islam is for each individual to consider oneself part of the same body. Caring for a fellow believer and the Ummah at large, is a noble trait, part of Iman, and a great Sunnah.
Sayyiduna Nu’man ibn Bashir (radiyallahu ‘anhuma) reports that Nabi (sallallahu ‘alayhi wa sallam) said:
‘The believers in their mutual mercy, love and compassion are like a single body, when one limb is in pain the rest of the body joins in insomnia, fever and restlessness.’
(Sahih Bukhari, Hadith: 6011)
An Inspirational Incident
Once, on a cold night, Imam Sa’id ibn ‘Uthman Al-Kalbi (rahimahullah) – a Maliki Hadith Scholar- cried the entire night. When he was asked about this he replied: ‘I thought of the [plight of the] poor people in the Ummah of Muhammad (sallallahu’alayhi wasallam) on a night like this, so I cried out of pity for them.’
(Tartibul Madarik, vol.2 pg.418, no. 392)
Mawlana Haroon Abasoomar (rahimahullah) would often mention that if we were truly concerned about the current sad state of the Ummah, we would not even be able to eat our meals. In the latter years of his life (rahimahullah), as the suffering of the Ummah increased throughout the globe, he would say: ‘How can we feast, or enjoy our meals when our own brothers and sisters are suffering so much?!’
This noble trait is also noticed in Al-‘Allamatul Muhaddith, Shaykh Muhammad ‘Awwamah (hafizahullah) that whenever he receives sad news of the suffering of the Ummah, one can easily notice the extreme effect it has on him. At times, Shaykh (hafizahullah) falls ill due to the effect of such news.
May Allah Ta’ala inspire us all to sympathise with those suffering in Palestine, in whichever form possible; be it through du’a, moral and financial support, or in the manner mentioned in the incidents above.

A Comprehensive Du’a for Assistance and Hidayat 🤲🏼
Sayyiduna ‘Abdullah ibn ‘Abbas (radiyallahu ‘anhuma) reports that Nabi (sallallahu ‘alayhi wa sallam) would make the following du’a:
Rabbi a’inni wa la tu’in ‘alayya, wansurni wa la tansur ‘alayya, wamkur li, wa la tamkur ‘alayya, wahdini wa yassiril huda li, wansurni ‘ala mam bagha ‘alayya. Rabbij ‘alni laka shakkaran, laka dhakkaran, laka rahhaban, laka mitwa’an, laka mukhbitan, ilayka awwaham muniba. Rabbi taqabbal tawbati, waghsil hawbati, wa ajib da’wati, wa thabbit hujjati, wa saddid lisani, wahdi qalbi, waslul sakhimata sadri.
(Sunan Tirmidhi, Hadith: 3551 & others. Declared authentic by Imam Tirmidhi)
Explanatory translation:
O My Rabb! Assist me and do not assist [my enemies] against me, help me and do not help against me, plot in favour of me and not against me, guide me and make guidance easy for me, aid me against those who oppress me. O My Rabb! Make me ever grateful to You, ever remembering of You, ever fearful of You, extremely obedient to You, ever humble to You, very submissive and one who turns to You [in tawbah]. O My Rabb! Accept my tawbah, wipe off my sins, answer my supplication, make my proof firm [against Your enemies], guide my tongue [to speak the truth], guide my heart and remove the deception/treachery of my chest.

A group in Baytul Maqdis will remain firm upon Din and prevail over their enemy
Sayyiduna Abu Umamah (radiyallahu ‘anhu) reported that Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alayhi wa sallam) said: “A group from my ummah will remain adherent to their faith prevailing over their adversaries. Those who oppose them will not harm them, except for [occasional] hardships, until the command of Allah comes while they are in that state.”
They asked: “O Messenger of Allah, where will they be?”
He replied: “In Baytul Maqdis and its surroundings.”

The huge reward for offering Salah in Masjidul Aqsa
Sayyiduna Abud Darda (radiyallahu ’anhu) narrates that Rasulullah (sallallahu ’alayhi wa sallam) said:
“One salah in Al Masjidul Haram is better than one hundred thousand Salahs elsewhere, and one salah in my Masjid (Masjidun Nabawi) is better than one thousand Salahs elsewhere, and one salah in the Masjid of Baytul Maqdis (Masjidul Aqsa) is better than five hundred Salahs elsewhere.”

The huge rewards for just one Durud
Sayyiduna Anas ibn Malik (radiyallahu ‘anhu) reported that Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alayhi wa sallam) said:
“Whoever sends one salutation upon me [durud], Allah Ta’ala will [shower] ten [mercies] upon him, ten sins will be expiated and ten ranks raised.”
(Sunan Nasai; Al Mujtaba, Hadith: 1297. Refer: Faydul Qadir, Hadith: 8680 and Mirqat, Hadith: 922)
Commentary
‘Allamah Munawi (rahimahullah) has explained that rank/status here means ranks in Jannah. i.e. A person will be raised ten ranks in Jannah.
(Faydul Qadir, Hadith: 8810)
Other commentators have stated that his status will be increased in this world, Qiyamah and in Jannah. In this world, he will be given the ability to carry out good deeds, his good deeds will be weighty on the Day of Qiyamah and in Jannah he will be honoured.

Every Nabi warned his nation about Dajjal
Sayyiduna Anas (radiyallahu ‘anhu) reports that Nabi (sallallahu ‘alayhi wasallam) said:
“Every Nabi had warned his nation regarding the squint liar [Dajjal]…”
(Sahih Bukhari, Hadith: 7131 and Sahih Muslim, Hadith: 2933)
The fact that every Nabi warned his nation about Dajjal illustrates the severe magnitude of this fitnah.
As such, parents, teachers and Imams should repeatedly mention this great trial that is certain to befall the Ummah.
🤲🏼 May Allah Ta’ala protect us & our progenies from Dajjal.
