Hazrat Moulana Haroon Abasoomar (rahimahullah) was blessed by Almighty Allah with a very intelligent mind, big heart and broad horizons.
Allah Ta’ala chose him to actively serve Islam in several forms, like being an Imam, a teacher, a lecturer/ Da’i, a reformer and a community leader.
Despite most of his service being in the field of Islamic knowledge, da’wah and islah (reformation), he showed unique admiration, appreciation and support for all avenues of service to Islam.
He admired those who served Islam sincerely on any front. This quality was a uniting force and made all feel welcomed.

• He would marvel at the brothers who would go out in tabligh and spend their own time, wealth and lives in that cause for Islam.
Their sincerity and simplicity moved him.
He made time to sit with them in the masjid & they were often invited for tea to his home.

• He would regularly get updates from those engaged in serving the poor and needy, locally and abroad.

• He (rahimahullah) actively supported the ‘Khatm Nubuwwat’ effort, which seeks to uphold the seal of Prophethood of our beloved Nabi (sallallahu’alayhi wasallam). They combat those who erroneously claim that new prophets came after Nabi (sallallahu’alayhi wasallam). Na’uthu billah! like the Qadiyanis, for example.

• He constantly kept in contact with senior ‘Ulama & Mashayikh locally & abroad, many of whom he would phone regularly.
He made a point of [as far as possible] visiting/attending the programs every senior ‘Alim or Shaykh that visited our shores. He never allowed his ill-health to be an excuse for him to miss these opportunities.

• Those who were working with the indigenous Muslims were very dear to him, & applauded by him at all times. He frequently visited their institutions.

• The establishment of Madrasahs and Masjids were extremely crucial projects in his eyes.
A month before his sad passing away, he contributed towards a Masjid in a Syrian refugee camp inside Syria. He named it: Masjid Abrar
(Masjid of the pious)
Taraweeh salah was also performed in this masjid in Ramadan.
This Masjid also serves as a maktab/madrasah for the children in that camp.

All of the above avenues, as well as others, he admired & supported through du’as, advice/guidance and with financial assistance when possible.

• Despite his busy schedule, coupled with his ill health over the last years of his life, Hazrat Moulana (rahimahullah) took out time to sit with those involved in tabligh, social work, humanitarian work, etc. to listen to there kaarguzaari (reports/updates) and to advise them, as well as take lessons from them, which he would share with others.
• Those who were afar, he would regularly phone them for updates and to share his advice and experience.

• He felt it his duty to make du’a for such people.
In his du’as, he specifically mentioned all of the above, as well as the: authors, lecturers, teachers, reformers, aid workers, and every one serving Islam & the truth sincerely.

He would remind others to do the same and explain that by making du’a for such people, we get a share in their rewards too.

This is based on the following Hadith:
Sayyiduna Anas (radiyallahu’anhu) reports that when the Muhajirun came to Nabi (sallallahu’alayhi wasallam) and stated that the Ansar have served them so well, & they feared that the Ansar would take all the rewards.
Rasulullah (sallallahu’alayhi wasallam) replied:
‘That will not happen, as long as you make dua for them and praise them [for their efforts].’
i.e, If you do so, you will also be rewarded.
(Sunan Abi Dawud, Sunan Tirmidhi & others)
Truly, it felt like Hazrat (rahimahullah) perceived himself to be physically as well as spiritually part of the efforts of those whom he made du’a for, & he expected his share of reward from those efforts too…
It was as if he took all as his own.

🤲🏼 May Allah Ta’ala grant us such big hearts, like Hazrat’s, which will unite us in upholding the flag of Islam.
May Allah Ta’ala fill the grave of Hazrat Moulana Haroon saheb with noor & grant us the ability to follow in his footsteps.
