About

Darul Hadith Research Centre is an institute that seeks to serve the Muslim World by attending to issues that pertain to the Noble Traditions of Rasulullah (sallallahu’alaihi wasallam).

Inspiration

It was the vision of Moulana Muhammad Yusuf Binnory (rahimahullah) that inspired our Ameer; Moulana Haroon Abasoomar saheb (hafizahullah) to undertake this initiative.

Moulana Muhammad Yusuf Binnory (rahimahullah) had established a research department at his institute, from which many services of Islamic academics were rendered.

Following in the footsteps of his most senior Hadith teacher, our Ameer, Moulana Haroon Abasoomar saheb (hafizahullah) decided to establish this institute for the broader benefit of the Muslim community.

This was further enhanced by the encouragement of Shaykh Muhammad ‘Awwamah (hafizahullah) the Grand Syrian Muhaddith who was residing in Madinatul Munawwarah, and later migrated to Istanbul. The Respected Shaykh (hafizahullah) during his first visit to South Africa (June 2012) stressed on the need for specialisation in the various fields of Islamic knowledge.

The institute was launched to coincide with Shaykh ‘Awwamah’s next visit to South Africa in January 2014. He was pleased to hear of it and blessed the initiative with his du’as and also offered some principle guidelines on how to attend to Contemporary Hadith queries. Moulana Muhammad ibn Moulana Haroon is a student of the Shaykh (hafizahullah) [since 30 December 1999] and frequently consults Shaykh ‘Awwamah for the website and other issues.

The Arabic name: دار الحديث العوامية was selected in honour of the Shaykh (hafizhahullah). Read the Honourable Shaykh’s letter of support here. (See the English here)
