What to do on Auspicious Nights?

Our Beloved Nabi ﷺ has mentioned:
“Indeed your Rabb has reserved certain special moments in time (in which he emits abundant/special mercy)
Be sure to avail yourselves for these opportunities.” (Majma’uz Zawaaid)

We are usually aware of the significant occasions that present themselves each year. The crucial thing is how do we “avail ourselves” and maximise our benefit from these blessed nights?
Here under is a suggested format for “What to do on Blessed nights?”

Practicing on the following 10 points won’t take more than an hour insha Allah.

1. Offer the Maghrib, Esha & Fajr Salahs in congregation.

2. Sleep in the state of wudhu.

3. Abstain from sin.

4. Clear your heart from ill-feelings towards fellow Muslims.

5. Salatut Tasbeeh.

6. Tilawat (Recital) of Quran.

7. Salawat on Rasulullah ﷺ

8. Dhikr.

There are many forms of Dhikrullah. the following are suggested:
A hundred times “Laa ilaah illallah”
A hundred times repeating the name of “Allah”
And a hundred times:
“Subhaanallahi wabihamdihi subhanallahil ‘Azeem”

9. Du’a.

“Du’a is the essence of Worship” and hence cannot be omitted when we engage in worship.
More so on occasions when Almighty Allah ﷻ‬‎ accepts duas such as on the night of Qadr. One should spend a lengthy duration in begging from Allah, as we are all in need of it.
In light of the current world crisis, do remember our oppressed brethren around the globe.
On the night of Qadr the following Du’a should also be repeated as taught by Rasulullah ﷺ to his beloved wife Sayyidah ‘Aishah (radiyallahu ‘anha):

اللهم إِنَّكَ عَفُوٌّ تُحِبُّ العَفْوُ فَاعْفُ عَنِّيْ

“Allahumma innaka ‘afuwwun tuhibbul ‘afwa fa’fu ‘Anni”

O Allah! You are indeed Most Forgiving, so forgive me.

10. Tawbah.

The procedure for Tawbah is:
a. Perform two rak’aats of Salaah. (Optional)
b. Stop the sin that one is repenting from.
c. Regret the sin from the bottom of your heart.
d. Make a determined pledge with Allah ﷻ‬‎ never to repeat that sin.Besides the two rak’aats of Salah, the remainder are all fundamental.

Furthermore, if the sin involved usurping the right of the next person, one needs to ask him/her for forgiveness too. Without this we are not guaranteed forgiveness.

If that person has passed away, we could make dua for him and repay the debt (if any) to his/her heirs.

Note 1: The above can all be achieved in about 1 hour only.
Salatut Tasbeeh: 20 mins
Tawbah: can be incorporated in the du’a
Zikr: 10 mins
Salawaat: 5 mins
Tilawat: 15 mins
Du’a & Tawbah: 10 mins

However if one is short on time for whatever reason, then the following 5 points are suggested:
a) Esha & Fajr with Jamat
b) Sleep with Wudhu
c) Abstain from sin
d) clean the heart
e) Du’a

Note 2: The night commences at Maghrib, not after Esha or after Taraweeh or at Sehri time. Therefore one can and should commence ‘ibadah from Maghrib, although it is indeed best to do so at the last part of the night.

Note 3: These are mere suggestions intended to make it easy for people. One may engage in whatever form of ‘ibadah one is comfortable with.
May Allah Ta’ala grant us all complete forgiveness and steadfastness on guidance. Ameen.

Please do remember the writer in your supplication as well.

When to Discharge the Sadaqatul Fitr? ❔

There are several Hadiths that encourage discharging the sadaqatul fitr before the Eid salah. Imam Bukhari (rahimahullah) has included the following chapter in his famous book; Sahih Bukhari:

‘The chapter of [discharging] the sadaqah before Eid.’

The following Hadith appears under this chapter:

Sayyiduna ‘Abdullah ibn ‘Umar (radiyallahu ‘anhuma) reports that Rasulullah ﷺ instructed that the sadaqatul fitr (fitrah) be given [to the poor] before the people go out to the Eid salah.’

(Sahih Bukhari, Hadith: 1509)

Based on the above, the ‘Ulama have ruled that it is better (mustahab) to pass the fitrah to the poor and needy before the Eid salah. ✅

A Misconception

However, there is a misconception among the people that by them putting their fitrah into the collection boxes which are in the masajid etc before Eid, they have discharged their fitrah on time!

This is an incorrect notion. ❌

What is required (mustahabb) is that the Fitrah reaches the poor before the Eid salah.

Practice of the Sahabah (radiyallahu ‘anhum)

In the time of the Sahabah (radiyallahu ‘anhum) the collection of the fitrah would take place a few days before Eid.
(Sahih Bukhari, Hadith: 1511)

This was obviously done so that the collectors had time to pass on the fitrah to the needy in time, before the Eid salah.

We too can implement this system insha Allah by ensuring that we either give our fitrah directly to the poor before Eid salah, or by placing it into the tins/boxes a few days early. ⏰

The collecting organisations can then arrange for these tins to be collected on 28 Ramadan for example.

The imams of the masajid can also educate their congregations in this regard.

This will avail the different organisations enough time to distribute the fitrah on schedule insha Allah.

The poor will also have a more joyous Eid if they receive the Fitrah on time.

That is the ideal we should be striving for, and with a little bit of attention, this can easily be achieved.

A Simple Format for Salatut Tasbeeh

On Mubarak (blessed) nights, we are encouraged to offer salatut tasbeeh

One who offers this salah, will have all his/her sins forgiven including the major sins.

Approximate duration for this salah: 25 mins.

There are several methods for offering this salah. One should stick to whichever is easy.

Hereunder is 1 simple format for Salatut Tasbeeh in light of what is mentioned in Sunan Tirmidhi, after hadith: 481:

Make the niyyah: O Allah I intend offering 4 rak’ats salatut tasbeeh for your sake facing the qiblah.

After commencing the salah, recite the thana. Before the surah fatihah, recite the tasbeeh mentioned at the end of this message 15 times.

Thereafter recite the qirat as normal.

At the end of the qirat, before going into ruku’ recite the tasbeeh 10 times.

In ruku’ [after reciting the normal ‘Subhaana Rabbiyal ‘Azeem’] recite the tasbeeh below 10 times.

When standing after ruku’ [after reciting ‘Rabbana lakal Hamd’] recite the tasbeeh 10 times.

In each sajdah [after reciting ‘Subhana Rabbiyal A’la] recite the tasbeeh below 10 times.

Between the 2 sajdahs also recite 10 times.

When one rises for the second rak’at [& the rest of the rak’ats] do as mentioned above.

In this manner one would recite this tasbeeh 75 times in each rak’at x4 rak’ats = 300 times in the entire salah.

If one forgets to recite at a particular juncture, it may be added to the next posture.

The tasbeeh to be recited is:
Subhaanallaahi wal Hamdu lillahi walaa ilaaha illallaahu WAllaahu Akbar

See here for a detailed discussion on the authenticity of Salatut Tasbeeh:

Authenticity of Salatut Tasbih

5⃣

The essence of the 6 fasts of Shawwal

As Ramadan departs, we all are encouraged to extend the momentum by observing the six fasts of Shawwal. These fasts cover up the defects in our Ramadan fasts.

The famous Hadith in Sahih Muslim states:

“Whoever observes the fast of Ramadan and follows it up with six fasts in Shawwal will be rewarded as if he has fasted the entire year”

Commentary

The Hadith masters have explained that since every deed is multiplied ten times, by fasting in Ramadan we are actually rewarded for 300 days and not just the 30 in Ramadan. Therefore if we follow that up with six more we will be rewarded for sixty thereby attaining the reward of fasting for 360 days.

Why in Shawwal?

The general Hadith commentators have said that the reason for Rasulullah ﷺ encouraging us to observes these fasts immediately after Ramadan, is so that a muslim does not delay in accruing this grand reward. ☑

It is also easier for people to fast these six days immediately after Ramadan. ☑

Another Perspective

Hafiz Ibn Rajab Al-Hambali (rahimahullah) has offered the following interesting perspective:

“…the reward of fasting in Shawwal will be linked to the reward of Ramadan, and one who observes the Shawwal fast will receive the reward of observing the fard fast for the whole year.
This is the explanation of Imam ‘Abdullah Ibnul Mubarak (rahimahullah).”
(Lataiful Ma’arif, pg.314-315)

So those who fast the additional six fasts in Shawwal specifically, will actually receive the reward of observing the Fard fast for the entire year!

Through this Allah ﷻ‬‎ has blessed the ummah by ordaining the fast of 30 days only, but they have the potential to acquire the reward of 360 days of obligatory fast!

The difference in reward for Fard & Nafl deeds

The ‘Ulama state that the reward of a fard act is actually 70 more than the nafl (voluntary) deeds!!

(Sharhun Nawawi ‘ala Sahih Muslim, vol.1 pg.324)

Consolation for those who miss the fast in Shawwal

If one missed the six fasts of Shawwal, the reward of fasting the entire year can still be achieved if one fasts the six additional fasts in any other month after Shawwal. Since every act is rewarded tenfold. However, in this case, the six extra fasts will yield the reward of sixty nafl (voluntary) fasts & not the reward of the mandatory (fard) fast.

Treasure every Sunrise!

Sayyiduna ‘Abdullah Ibn Mas’ud (radiyallahu’anhu) would recite the following du’a at sunrise.
Lets ponder over its meaning, take heed and practice.

اَلْحَمْدُ ِلِله الَّذِى اَقَالَنَا يَوْمَنَا هَذَا وَلَم يُهْلِكْنَا بِذُنُوْبِنَا

Allahumdulillahil ladhi aqalana yawmana hadha wa lam yuhlikna bi dhunubina

Translation

All praise is for Allah, who has afforded us this day and did not destroy us for our sins.

(Sahih Muslim, hadith: 1908)

Sayyiduna ibn Mas’ud is the most knowledgable Sahabi after the Four Khulafa (radiyallahu’anhum).

In this supplication, he teaches us to treasure every new day!

✅ One more day, is one more chance to earn Allah’s ﷻ‬‎ pleasure, it’s one more chance to repent for our sins.

One who commences his day with this mindset of gratitude to Allah ﷻ‬‎, will truly value his time & life.
He who is grateful doesn’t disobey his Rabb ﷻ‬‎.

The meaning of this du’a is so profound, it’s worthy of being recited/remembered throughout the day too, especially in times of the current global disasters.

May Allah ﷻ‬‎ protect us all.

Looking at the Imam during the Friday Khutbah

Question

Is there any hadith about looking at the imam during the Jumu’ah khutbah?

Have any of the Fuqaha written that this practice is sunnah?

Answer

Yes, indeed.

The men in the congregation are encouraged to face the Imam without turning their chests away from the qiblah during the khutbah.

Imam Bukhari (rahimahullah) has named a chapter in his sahih as:

Chapter on the imam facing the congregation, & them facing the imam during the khutbah

✏ Under this chapter he has cited the hadith of Sayyiduna Abu Sa’eed Al-Khudry (radiyallahu’anhu): “Rasulullah ﷺ sat on the minbar one day and we (the Sahabah-radiyallahu’anhum) sat around him.” (i.e, and faced him)

(Sahih Bukhari, hadith: 921)

✏ Imam Bukhari (rahimahullah) supports this by saying: “Sayyiduna ‘Abdullah ibn ‘Umar and Sayyiduna Anas (radiyallahu’anhuma) faced the imam (i.e, during the khutbah)

The view of the Fuqaha

Imam Tirmidhi (rahimahullah) also included a chapter like this in his Sunan.
✏ He writes: “This practice has been preferred by the Sahabah and other ‘Ulama, like Imam Sufyan Thawri, Imam Shafi’i, Imam Ahmad & Imam Is-haq ibn Rahuyah (rahimahumullah).”

Moulana Anwar Shah Kashmiri (rahimahullah) says:
✅ “The sunnah is to face the imam.”

(Faydul Bari, vol.2 pg.337)

Hafiz Ibn Hajar (rahimahullah) – the famous commentator on Sahih Bukhari- says:
✅ “This practice is Mustahab (good) according to the majority of the scholars.”

(Fathul Bari, hadith:921)

Ibnul Mundhir (rahimahullah) said:
✅ “I don’t know of any difference of opinion on this… there is almost consensus on the issue”

✏ The Hanafi commentator of Bukhari; ‘Allamah ‘Aini (rahimahullah) quotes from Al-Mabsut- a classical Hanafi fiqh book-, that Imam Abu Hanifah (rahimahullah) would sit in the row (saff) and after the (second) adhan, he would turn his head to face the imam. i.e, without turning his entire body.
(‘Umdatul Qari, hadith: 921)

Note: If one cannot turn his head towards the imam without turning his chest away from the qiblah, then such a person should rather face the qiblah, instead of disrupting the straight row –saff

(Ma’arifus sunan, vol.4 pg.364)

And Allah Ta’ala Knows best,

Suggested du’a for driving in slippery conditions

‘Allamah Sakhawi (rahimahullah) has quoted a Scholar from the past to have suggested the following du’a for protection against ones conveyance skidding/slipping:

إنَّ اللهَ يُمْسِكُ السَّماواتِ وَالأَرْضَ أَنْ تَزُولا

InnAllaha yumsikus samawati wal arda an tazula

Indeed Allah ﷻ‬‎ is the One who keeps the heavens and the earth from moving/shaking.

(Al-Ibtihaj, bi adhkaril musafiri wal haaj)

9⃣

Use for the useless

As the seasons change and with the passage of time, one feels the need to acquire new clothing. At times, when new garments arrive, the old ones tend to find a place in the corner of the wardrobe /closet, never to be worn again.

Have we ever reflected over the agony of that person who has to endure the icy wind of winter, while we have a wide range of warm clothing lying unused?

When one adopts the Sunnah of Rasulullah ﷺ, then even those ‘useless’ old clothes become ‘useful’. ✅

What to do when we acquire new clothes?

Upon receiving new clothes, Rasulullah ﷺ would donate his old clothes and say, ‘whoever adorns new cloths, recites the following du’a and thereafter donates his old clothing to a poor Muslim, remains in the protection, patronage and Divine veil of Allah ﷻ‬‎ throughout his life as well as after his demise. As long as even one thread (of the donated clothing) remains on somebody’s body.’

That dua is:

الحَمْدُ ِللهِ الَّذِي كَسانِي ما أُوارِي بِه عوَرِتيْ واتجَمَّلُ به في حَياتِي

Alhamdulillahil ladhi kasani ma uwari bihi ‘awrati wa atajammalu bihi fi hayati

(Sunan Tirmidhi, Hadith: 3560, Al Mustadrak, vol.4, pg.193)

Additional value

The rewards stated above are obtained when the destitute merely dons those garments. The reward will definitely multiply if he/she were to wear those clothes whilst offering salah, observing the fast or any other virtuous deed…

Our duty to those around us

Furthermore, as a Muslim minority, this also affords us the opportunity to extend the warmth of Islam to the indigenous population of our country. Imagine the reward one could acquire, if through this simple deed somebody embraces Islam.

If this is the reward for donating old clothes, what would be in store for one who donates new clothing?

Millions in seconds!! ⏳

Many of us frequently find ourselves in the shopping areas.
The following Hadith is worth noting whenever we are there:

Rasulullah ﷺ said:
‘Whoever recites the following du’a in the bazaar/shopping area/malls etc, will receive a million rewards, one million of his sins shall be forgiven, his rank will be raised by a million stages and (in some narrations) he will receive a palace in Jannah.’

Also see: Sharhul Ihya, 5/511.

This Hadith has been authenticated by the following Imams:
Imam Hakim, ‘Allamah Mundhiri & ‘Allamah Dimyati (rahimahumullah).

Some of the narrators of this Hadith would intentionally go to the bazaar to merely recite this du’a and acquire its rewards. ⚖

Let us also practise this and guarantee our millions by Allah

Haj without a visa!

Since Hajj is among the most virtuous deeds in Islam, & not everyone can afford it (especially on a continuous basis) Allah Ta’ala has attached the reward of optional Hajj to certain other deeds for the benefit of all.

Hereunder is a collection of such deeds.

It should be noted that these deeds are labelled as being more virtuous than nafl (optional) hajj, & not the fard (obligatory) hajj.

1. Wudu at home before proceeding for Salah with Jama’ah.

2. Salatul Ishraq.

3. Going to the Masjid to acquire or impart Knowledge.

4. Umrah in Ramadan.

5. To recite “Subhanallah” 100 times in the morning and evening.

6. Serving one’s Parents.

All of the above have been derived from the Hadiths of Nabi ﷺ.

Hafiz Ibn Rajab Al-Hambali (rahimahullah) has quoted the following deeds that yield the reward of Hajj from various Predecessors (i.e, not necessarily from the Hadith).

7. Attending the Jumu’ah Salah.

8. Attending the Eid Salah.

9. Esha Salah in Congregation.

10. The fulfillment of all obligations (fard deeds) is better than Nafl Haj.✅

11. Abstinence from the haram (forbidden) acts are also more virtuous than Nafl Hajj etc.❗

12. Any act of Good during the first 10 days of Dhul Hijjah.⏳

The following is an addition to what Hafiz Ibn Rajab (rahimahullah) has cited:

13. Spending on a student of Islamic Knowledge.
(Ma’alim Irshadiyyah of Shaykh Muhammad ‘Awwamah, pg.35)

Notes:

✏The promises of gaining the same reward as Hajj that are mentioned above, are restricted to the reward only. It does not mean that one upon whom Hajj is obligatory can merely suffice on these deeds.

✏The purpose here is not to discourage one from the actual Hajj. (That is why it is being circulated now, when the Hajis have already begun to depart) Like they say: There’s nothing like the real thing..

May Allah ﷻ‬‎ grant us all the tawfeeq (ability) to practice on the above, as well as afford us the opportunity to perform the real Hajj repeatedly. Ameen.

Sayyiduna Abu Hurayrah was not a forger!

Question

There are people who doubt the high number of Ahadith that Abu Hurayrah (radhiyallahu ‘anhu) reported.
Some even accuse him of forgery!
Please answer this objection.

Answer

This claim is absolutely untrue and a grave accusation against the Ummat’s foremost Hadith Master; Sayyiduna Abu Hurayrah (radiyallahu’anhu)❗

Some experts have managed to find almost every Hadith that he reported to have also been reported by other Sahabah (radiyallahu’anhum).
This effectively means that none of the Hadiths that Abu Hurayrah (radiyallahu’anhu) reported were made up.
They were all backed up by other Sahabah.

My Honourable Teacher; Al-Muhaddith Shaykh Muhammad ‘Awwamah (may Allah Ta’ala protect him) once mentioned that the renowned Shaykh Muhammad Muntasir Al-Kattani (rahimahullah) conducted a study in to the Hadiths of Sayyiduna Abu Hurayrah (radiyallahu’anhu) that appear in Musnad Ahmad – which is among the biggest collections of Sayyiduna Abu Hurayrah’s Hadiths today-.

He found that all of them were corroborated by reports of other Sahabah (radiyallahu’anhum) besides three or four.

This sufficiently rebuts the flimsy allegation that Sayyiduna Abu Hurayrah (radiyallahu’anhu) had made up Hadiths just to gain popularity.

✅ In one Narration of Sahih Bukhari, Sayyiduna Abu Hurayrah (radiyallahu’anhu) even says that there are several more Hadiths that he hadn’t quoted [for fear of them being misunderstood or misused]. If his concern was popularity, he wouldn’t have hesitated to add to the numbers of his Hadiths, irrespective of the fear of being misunderstood….

May Allah ﷻ‬‎ save us from such foul accusations against those who were chosen by Allah ﷻ‬‎ for the companionship of Rasulullah ﷺ.

One should remain vigilant against such drivel❗

Note: I subsequently asked my Beloved Shaykh ‘Awwamah (may Allah protect him) if this study was ever printed. He replied in the negative.

And Allah ﷻ Knows best,

Proof for not removing hair, nails etc for the first 10 days of Dhul Hijjah

Question

A Muslim doing Qurbani should not clip his nails or remove hair from the beginning of Dhul Hijjah, is this correct?
Please provide the proof from Hadith for this.❓

Answer

Sayyidatuna Ummu Salamah (radiyallahu ‘anha) reports that Nabi ﷺ said:

When Dhul Hijjah begins and a person intends to make udhiyah (slaughter on Eid day), then he should not remove hair nor clip his nails.
(Sahih Muslim, Hadith: 5090)

✅ Based on the above Hadith, the Hanafi Jurists say that it is mustahab (preferable) for a person intending to do udhiyah, not to remove hair or clip his nails from the beginning of Dhul Hijjah until after his animal is slaughtered.

Note 1: This should not be considered binding. Therefore those who do not practice on the above are not to blame.

⚠ Note 2: Those who choose to practise on this should only remove their hair etc after their animal is slaughtered & not before that.

Note 3: If one hasn’t cut his nails or removed body hair for up to forty days, and by practicing on the above, he will be exceeding the forty day limit, he should not delay.
In this case, he is instructed to rather remove the hair/nails etc instead of waiting till after slaughter. This is because Shari’ah instructs us to remove unwanted hair/nails once every forty days.
(Refer: Badhlul Majhud, under Hadith: 2791)

And Allah Ta’ala knows best.

❗This year (2016) in most countries, Dhul Hijjah shall commence at Maghrib on Friday 2 September.

10 Points on the day of ‘Arafah

The day of ‘Arafah is the most important day for a Haji. Whilst only a select few of the Ummah are chosen by Allah ﷻ‬‎ to physically be on the plains of ‘Arafat on the 9th of Dhul Hijjah, there are several virtues and deeds mentioned regarding the day of ‘Arafah which apply to those afar as well. Hereunder are ten of them:

The Virtue of the Day
1. The day of ‘Arafah is one of the best days of the year,
Sayyidna Anas (radiyallahu ‘anhu) says:
“The day of ‘Arafah equals 10 000 days in virtue”!

2. “On the day of Arafah, Allah frees from jahannam even those who are not physically in Arafah. Therefore the next day is Eid for all.”

3. The Day of ‘Arafah has also been labelled as “Yawmul Eid” by Sayyiduna ‘Umar (radiyallahu ‘anhu) as its the day in which Allah Ta’ala announced the perfection of Islam.

Deeds for this Day
4. DO on the Day of ‘Arafah:
✅1. Fast
✅2. Recite kalimah shahadah a lot
✅3. Excessive Du’a
✅4. Sadaqah

5.DON’T:
❌Persist on Sin (i.e, rather make tawbah -repent- from all sins)

❌ Be arrogant

These 2 types of people are deprived on this blessed day.

6. Dhikr on the Day of ‘Arafah
Rasulullah ﷺ would recite the following abundantly on the day of Arafah:

“لاإلٰه إلا الله وحده لا شريك له، له الملك وله الحمد بيده الخير وهو على كل شئ قدير“

La ilaha illallahu wahdahu la sharika lahu lahul mulku walahul hamdu biyadihil khayru wahuwa ‘ala kuli shayin qadir

7. Sayyiduna ‘Ali’s (radiyallahu ‘anhu) dua on the Day of ‘Arafah

اللهم أعتق رقبتي من النار، وأَوسِعْ لِيْ مِنَ الرّزقِ الحلال، وَاصْرِفْ عني فَسَقة الجن والإنس

Allahumma a’tiq raqabati minan nar wa awsi’li minar rizqil halal, wasrif ‘anni fasaqatil jinni wal ins

Translation: O Allah! Free me from the fire, increase my lawful sustenance, and keep away the transgressive Jin and humans from me.

8. “Fasting on the day of Arafah will expiate the sins of the past and future year.”

9. Rasulullah ﷺ said:
“He who protects his ears, eyes and tongue on this day (Day of ‘Arafah) will be forgiven”

Shaytan’s Humiliation
10. The day of ‘Arafah is the day when Shaytan is most humiliated (due to Allah’s extensive forgiveness)

Conclusion
All of the above will have real significance to us if we implement it and not just share it.

May Allah ﷻ‬‎ grant us all the tawfiq (ability) to practice on all the above and may He bless us with repeated opportunities of physically being on the plains of ‘Arafat.

Du’a when slaughtering

Sayyiduna Jabir (radiyallahu ‘anhu) reports that when Rasulullah ﷺ made the animal he was slaughtering face the qiblah, he recited the following du’a and then slaughtered the animal:

(Sunan Abi Dawud, Hadith: 2788, & others.
Declared authentic by Imams Ibn Khuzaymah,Hakim & Dhahabi)

Notes:

1) The du’a has been reported with variation in the wordings. I have cited the version recorded in Sunan Abi Dawud.

2) The text in bold, translates as ‘from Muhammad and his Ummah’. One may use one’s own name instead.

And Allah Ta’ala Knows best

Before retweeting, re-sharing, broadcasting etc check the authenticity

Unfortunately, in our era, people hardly ever bother to verify the information they receive or pass on. This has fatal consequences. We shouldn’t be so naive as to accept everything that is thrown at us, unless the sender is a reliable authority in the field that pertains to that piece of information…

We most definitely need to check the status of whatever we are reading, be that in a book, on a screen or on social media. This applies to information of any kind…

The Social Media Pitfall
Social media has undoubtedly put a world of information literally at people’s fingertips. In addition to its benefits, mass-misinformation is just one of its many pitfalls.

Many of us are gullible, and believe whatever we read.
Some of us merely see the sender, and suffice with that. As if to mean that the one who sent it is the original source!

The sender probably also thought the same when he/she received it…

The ‘Copy & Paste’ trend
It’s no secret that people ‘copy and paste’ all the time without quoting their original source. This is wrong in itself. You may read a full article on it here:

Academic Theft!

Just one evil outcome of the ‘copy and paste’ trend is that by the time it reaches the third or fourth hand, the original source is forgotten, thus removing real credibility from that statement. That is if the source is really credible. But how would we know that?

❗That message could just be some bogus drivel…

Therefore, we are cautioned: ❌ Do not believe everything you read!!

That really seems difficult in our era, especially since many are in the habit of having conviction on whatever is thrown at them! May Allah Ta’ala grant us the true realisation of the above. Ameen.

Spending on one’s family on ‘Ashura day

Rasulullah ﷺ is authentically reported to have said:
‘Whoever expands his spending on his family on the day of ‘Ashura, Allah ﷻ‬‎ will inflate his sustenance for the rest of that year.’
(Shu’abul Iman & Al-Istidhkar)

⚖ Tried & Tested ⚖
Several narrators of this Hadith have echoed the following testimony:
‘We have tried this, & have found it to be accurate.’
(Al-Istidhkar, 10/140)

In fact, one narrator of this Hadith, a great Muhaddith and Faqih, Sufyan ibn ‘Uyaynah (rahimahullah) said:
‘I have been doing this for fifty to sixty years and have always seen its benefit.’
(Lataiful Ma’arif, pg.113)

Source and Authenticity
This Hadith has been reported by several Sahabah (radiyallahu ’anhum), among them are the following:
1⃣ Sayyiduna Jabir
2⃣ Sayyiduna Abu Hurayrah
3⃣ Sayyiduna Abu Sa’eed Al-Khudry
4⃣ Sayyiduna ‘Abdullah ibn Mas’ud
5⃣ Sayyiduna ‘Abdullah ibn ‘Umar
6⃣ This has also been reported with a good chain as the statement of Sayyiduna ‘Umar.
(radiyallahu ’anhum)

Authentic
There are several legitimate practices in Islam that have been wrongfully deemed as innovations!
In an era of religious melt-down, we cannot afford such incorrect assertions.‼
One such deed is: Spending on one’s family on the day of ‘Ashura (The 10th of Muharram)

There are approximately ten Hadith Masters that have declared this Hadith as reliable.

‘Allamah Al-‘Iraqi (rahimahullah) has authored a detailed treatise on this Hadith in which he has proven its acceptability beyond a shadow of doubt.

See here for full details:

Additional Spending on ‘Aashura Day

Notes
• This is not restricted to food only.
• One can spend in any form that is deemed most appropriate.
(Al-Hadiyyatul ‘Alaiyyah, pg.311)
• Lastly, this Hadith provides an ideal solution during these times of global financial constraint. Try it & see the difference insha Allah! ✅

What to do when receiving the 1st Fruit of the Season

Several Sahabah (radiyallahu’anhum) have
reported that when the first fruit of the season used to be brought to Rasulullah ﷺ he would kiss it, touch it to his eyes & recite the following du’a [among others]. He ﷺ would then give that fruit to the smallest child that was in his presence:

اللهُمَّ كَمَا أَرَيْتَنا أَوَّلَه أَرِنا آخِرَه

Allahumma kama araytana awwalahu, arina akhirahu

Translation: O Allah! just as You have shown us the first of it, allow us to see the last of it.

(Abu Dawud in his Kitabul Maraseel, Ibnus Sunni & Tabarani)

‘Allamah Haythami (rahimahullah) has declared the narration of Tabarani as sahih (authentic).

Explanation
The reason for giving it to the child is
1⃣ Either because of the similarity between the two that both are new in the world or
2⃣ because of the extreme joy that a child experiences through this.

The reason for Rasulullah ﷺ kissing the fruit and touching it to his eyes is because it has been newly created by Allah ﷻ‬‎. Just as he ﷺ would go out in the rain and open his chest [so the rain may touch him] & he would say: ‘Verily it [the raindrops] have only recently arrived from my Rabb !’

Another Lesson
The above also teaches us that: the Sahabah (radiyallahu’anhum) would bring the first produce of their orchards to Rasulullah ﷺ to acquire Barakah
✅ Nowadays some people do -admirably-emulate this in a way, by presenting their first produce to their teachers, seniors, elders of the family etc for Barakah.

Don’t be Robbed of your Good Conduct❗

Shaykh Muhammad ‘Awwamah (may Allah protect him) once mentioned a story about his senior teacher, Shaykh ‘Abdul Fattah Abu Ghuddah (rahimahullah), which is worth sharing for its profound message and immense inspiration:

➡There was an instigator in Aleppo (may Allah Ta’ala‬‎ alleviate the suffering therein currently).
This person falsely reported Shaykh ‘Abdul Fattah (rahimahullah) to the authorities for which Shaykh (rahimahullah) was imprisoned.

A year later when Shaykh ‘Abdul Fattah (rahimahullah) was released, the locals came to visit, congratulate and welcome him at his residence.
Among those that came was the initial trouble maker too. Realising his mistake he probably came to plead for forgiveness. He was however, scared to face Shaykh ‘Abdul Fattah.

When people told Shaykh (rahimahullah), he responded, ‘Allow him in’:

نحن نعامل الناس بأخلاقنا لا بأخلاقهم

‘We display our own character to the people, not their’s.’

-end of incident.

Subhaanallah!
In other words, despite his disrespect and lack of akhlaq, I will display to him my akhlaq by being better to him.

Moral
People have different standards in their conduct. Don’t let their misconduct set your standard!

May Allah Ta’ala inspire us to implement this sublime moral code.
Ameen.

Chosen Fruit

The following are among the fruit that Rasulullah ﷺ is reported to have consumed in his lifetime:

1. Fresh dates.

2. Dry dates.

3. Grapes.
Nabi ﷺ would enjoy grapes.

↪ 4. Raisins.

5. Melons.
Melons as well as fresh dates are reported to be from the most beloved of fruit to Rasulullah ﷺ.

↪ 6. Cucumbers.
Rasulullah ﷺ would relish this. He would at times prefer to have it with a bit of salt.

↪ 7. Pomegranates.

Sayyidunna Abdullah ibn ‘Abbas (radiyallahu’anhuma) is reported to have commented that in each pomegranate there is a seed from Jannah.
(Majma’uz Zawaid, vol. 5 pg. 45)

In fact, the Quran states that pomegranates will be among the fruit of Jannah.
(Surah Ar-Rahman: 68)

Refer for the above list to: Subulul Huda war Rashad, vol. 7 pgs. 204-209.

When eating the above fruit, one should also intend to emulate Sayyiduna Nabi ﷺ.

Nabi ﷺ’s love for his daughter Sayyidah Fatimah (radiyallahu’anha)

Sayyidah ‘Aaishah (radiyallahu ‘anha) says, “….Whenever Fatimah (radiyallahu ‘anha) visited Nabi ﷺ, he would stand up and welcome her, take her hand, kiss it and make her sit in his place.”

(Mustadrak Hakim, 3/154. Declared authentic by ‘Allamah Dhahabi)

Morals

✅ As a mark of respect & love, one may stand up to welcome a visitor.

✅ Kissing the hand of one’s friend/beloved is also a sunnah.

✅ When we receive and welcome someone, give them the best seat in the house. Even if it be your own personal place- especially if it’s someone very respectable.

Don’t neglect salah while travelling

With the annual holidays upon us, we are reminded to ensure that we do not omit any salah.
A believer never neglects his/her salah.
The following Hadith is further inspiration for us on this issue, as Nabi ﷺ made special du’a for mercy on the one who was particular about his salah even while on journey.
Nabi ﷺ said:

“May Allah have mercy on my brother Abdullah ibn Rawahah, wherever he was and the time of Salah set in, he would stop his conveyance [to offer Salah]”

(‘Abdur Razzaq & Tabarani with a sound (hasan) chain.)

We as Muslims should not feel shy to offer our salah whenever we are [as long as we are not obstructing others].

✅This is a very active form of da’wah too.

Many people the world over were attracted to Islam by this.

How nice if Allah ﷻ‬‎ uses us also to guide others.

How often have we purchased items from vendors on the streets and sidewalks?

Those of us who do so, also have the habit of bargaining with these poor vendors.

The following Hadith is a source of guidance & inspiration on this topic:

Generosity of the Buyer

Sayyiduna Jabir (radiyallahu’anhu) reports that Nabi ﷺ had purchased a camel from me.
Rasulullah ﷺ paid me the price, and gave me a little extra.
As I departed He ﷺ called me back. I thought perhaps Nabi ﷺ was unhappy with the camel & wanted to return it. When I went to him, he said: ‘You may keep the money and the camel.’

(Sahih Bukhari, hadith: 2097 & Sahih Muslim, hadith: 3626)

Morals

When paying our dues, it’s good to give a little extra too.

✅ Sayyiduna Jabir (radiyallahu’anhu) had lots of overheads. He had the expenses of his 7 sisters as well.
This was a way in which Nabi ﷺ offered his support to him.

Let us also revive this practice, especially when we are purchasing goods from poor vendors on the sidewalks.
[on condition they are not exploiting foreign tourists]

✅ Instead of bargaining with such people, who are in conditions of much need, we ought to be paying the full price.

In some instances we should pay extra with the intention of charity.

At least once in a while, pay the price, take the item & then return it without taking back the money either.

See the joy that this blessed Sunnah of Nabi ﷺ brings to their faces.

In fact, the doer too feels a sense of satisfaction in this.

It could also be a means of attracting them to Islam.

Let’s give it a try this holiday season.

There are many rewarding deeds whose merits are inflated based on the occasion in which they are carried out.

One such deed is:

Walking for the salah of Jumu’ah.

Sayyiduna Aws Ibn Aws (radiyallahu ‘anhu) reports that Rasulullah ﷺ said:

Whoever (does the following on a Friday):

1⃣ Takes a thorough bath,
2⃣ Goes very early to the Masjid,
3⃣ Goes walking, not riding,
4⃣ Sits close to the imam (not against the back wall)
5⃣ Listens attentively to the khutbah (sermon)
6⃣ Does not engage in futile activity (like, talking to someone or fidgeting with his hair, clothes or cellphone etc)

Will receive for every step:

The reward for one year’s fast and one year’s Tahajjud Salaah!

(Sunan Abi Dawud & Tirmidhi, classified as Sahih by Imams: Ibn Khuzaimah, Ibn Hibban and Hakim)

There’s Nothing Better

One cannot imagine the amount of reward achievable for this weekly deed.

No wonder according to some experts, there is no other Sahih (authentic) Hadith with greater virtue than this one!

May Allah Ta’ala grant us all the ability to take advantage of this opportunity. Ameen.

Wudu incentives

The wudu of a believer is indicative of the position that cleanliness holds in Islam. Being the key to Salah, a mu’min will perform wudu at least 5 times a day. Therefore, utmost care should be taken in perfecting it. By implementing the following sunnats and guidelines extracted from the noble Ahadith of Rasulullah ﷺ, one would Insha Allah be able to achieve maximum reward for the wudu.

1⃣ If a person recites the following du’a before commencing wudu, the angles will continue recording reward for him as long as he remains in that wudu: ✅

Bismillahi wal Hamdulillah

Translation: In the name of Allah, all praise is for Allah.
(Al-Mu’jamus Saghir li Tabarani, classified as sound; Majmaúz zawaid)

2⃣ The use of miswak multiples the reward of two rakats of salah 70 fold. ⚖
(Abu Nu’aim in Kitabus Siwak, declared reliable; Targhib)

3⃣ Among the practices of Rasulullah ﷺ that is extinct nowadays during wudu is the khilal (passing of wet fingers) through the beard.
(Sunan Abi Dawud & Sahih Ibn Hibban)

– To be continued..

In the meantime, lets implement these 3⃣ wudu enhancers

Wudu incentives continued…

✅ By keeping these points in mind at Wudu time, we will feel added enjoyment in our Wudu insha Allah.

4⃣ It is mustahabb (preferable) to do masah (wipe with wet fingers) on the nape. One who makes masah on the nape will be saved from severe thirst and from being shackled on the day of Qiyamah.

(see authentication of supporting narrations in: I’la-us sunan. vol.1 pg.123)

5⃣ The sins committed by the limbs that are being washed in wudu are also washed away.
(Sahih Muslim, Hadith:576)

6⃣ Rasulullah ﷺ has informed the ummah that they will be distinguished from the rest of mankind by the shine of the limbs of wudu. He ﷺ therefore encouraged:

“Those who can increase the shine should do so.”
i.e. By washing extra.

(Sahih Bukahri, Hadith:136)

Sayyidiuna Abu Hurairah (radiyallahuánhu) would actually wash up to his armpits and shins because of this Hadith.

(Sahih Muslim Hadith:578)

Some Fuqaha (Jurists) have stated that it is mustahabb (meritorious) to at least do so up to half way between the elbows and armpits and up to half the shin. This will not be considered as israf (wastage) of water.

(Tahtawi álad durr, vol.1 pg.76, Shami, vol.1 pg.130)

Wudu incentives

continued…

By keeping these points in mind at Wudu time, we will feel added enjoyment in our Wudu insha Allah.

7⃣ The angels ask Allah ﷻ‬‎ to forgive and have mercy on the one who remains in his/her place of salah with wudu after completing the salah, until the wudu is broken.

(Sahih Bukhari, Hadith:445 & Sahih Muslim, Hadith:1507)

8⃣ Despite having wudu it is mustahabb (preferable) to renew the wudu for every Salah. ✅

(Sunan Tirmizhi, hadith:58-59 & Faidhul Qadir, Hadith:8607)

NB: This only applies to the one who has offered salah or any other act of worship with the previous wudu. (Shami vol.1 pg.119)

9⃣ One should try to be in the state of wudu all the time. He who passes away in the state of wudu dies as a Shaheed (Martyr).

(Majmaúz zawaid, vol.1 pg. 271 & Fathul malikil áliy, pg.35)

The greatest incentive of wudu is that it is the key to salah and salah is the key to Jannah.

(Musnad Ahmad Hadith 14597)

Imagine the reward of the one who implements these incentives daily, five times each day?

Now consider the extent of the reward if one teaches this to others…

Virtues of sleeping with Wudu

There are many incentives for practicing this sunnah. Hereunder are a few which state that one who sleeps with Wudu will receive:
1⃣ The du’a of the Angels.
2⃣ His soul will make sajdah under the ‘Arsh (Throne) of Allah ﷻ‬‎.
3⃣ He will receive the reward of engaging in salah & dhikr the entire night.

See the details below.

From the Hadith:

Sayyiduna Ibn ‘Abbas (radiyallahu’anhumu) reported that Nabi ﷺ said:
‘Purify these bodies and Allah will purify you, for there is no slave who goes to sleep in a state of purity but an Angel spends the night with him. Every time he turns over, [the Angel] says, ‘O Allah! Forgive Your slave, for he went to bed in a state of purity.’
(Al-Mu’jamul Awsat of Tabarani, Hadith: 5087 with a good (jayyid) chain. Refer: Targhib, 1/409 &Al-Matjarur Rabih, Hadith: 353)

From the statements of the Sahabah (radiyallahu’anhum):

Sayyiduna Abud Darda (radiyallahu’anhu) has said:
‘When a person sleeps, his soul (ruh) rises to the throne (Arsh) of Allah. If he slept with wudu, the soul is permitted to make sajdah (by the Arsh of Allah). If he slept in the state of impurity, permission for sajdah is refused.’
(Kitabuz Zud of Ibnul Mubarak, Hadith:1245)

A similar virtue is reported from Sayyiduna ‘Abdullah ibn ‘Amr ibnul ‘As (radiyallahu’anhuma) in Shu’abul Iman, Hadith: 2527
Also see: Fathul Bari, Hadith: 1149

From the Pious Tabi’un (those after the Sahabah)

Imam Abu Murayah Al ‘Ijli (rahimahullah) said:
‘Whoever retires to bed in the state of wudu and falls off to sleep while engaging in the dhikr of Allah Ta’ala, his bed will be regarded as a Masjid. He will receive the reward of being in Salah and dhikr until he awakens.’
(Musannaf ‘Abdur Razzaq, Hadith: 19837. Refer: Fathul Bari, Hadith: 6311)

Lets take advantage of these super benefits of sleeping with Wudu. A simple, yet so beneficial deed.

In so doing, we won’t lose as we snooze!

One who sleeps with wudu will also:
4⃣ Receive death in a good condition.
5⃣ Be raised on the day of Qiyamah with wudu
6⃣ Have good dreams.
7⃣ Saved from nightmares.

Hadith:
4⃣ Sayyiduna Bara Ibn ‘Azib (radiyallahu’anhu) reports that Rasulullah ﷺ said:
‘Make wudu before sleeping, sleep on the right side and recite the following du’a

Allahumma aslamtu nafsi ilayk. wa wajjahtu wajhi ilayk. wafawwadtu amri ilayk. wa alja-tu zahri ilayk raghbatan wa rahbatan ilayk
La malja -a wala manja-minka illa ilayk
Amantu bi kitabikal ladhy anzalta wa bi nabiyyikal ladhi arsalta

Whoever does the above, & dies in his/her sleep will die upon the sunnah (fitrah).’
(Sahih Bukhari, hadith: 247 & 6315)

From the Sahabah (radiyallahu’anhum):
5⃣ The ‘Ulama state that one of the primary reasons for sleeping with wudu is to prepare for death.
Sayyiduna Ibn ‘Abbas (radiyallahu’anhu) advised:
‘Ensure that you spend the nights in wudu, for the souls will be raised in the condition [of purity] that they were taken in.
(Musannaf ‘Abdur Razzaq, see Fathul Bari, hadith: 6312 & ‘Umdatul Qari, hadith: 247)

From the Scholars:
6⃣ Hafiz Ibn Hajar (rahimahullah) writes:
One who sleeps with wudu will see better dreams.
(Fathul Bari, hadith: 6311)

Protection from nightmares
7⃣ Shaykhul Hadith Moulana Muhammad Zakariyya Kandehlawi (rahimahullah) says:
One who sleeps with wudu is saved from bad dreams.

Don’t miss out on the 15th of Sha’ban❗

How much do you know about the 15th night of Sha’ban❓-

The second most auspicious night of the Islamic calendar…

The illustrious Maliki ‘Alim; Ibnul Haj (rahimahullah) states:

“The salaf (pious predecessors) would sanctify this night and prepare themselves for it in advance.”

Du’a when Ramadan arrives

Sayyiduna ‘Ubadah ibn Samit (radiyallahu’anhu) reports that Rasulullah ﷺ use to teach the Sahabah (radiyallahu’anhum) the following Du’a when the Blessed month of Ramadan would arrive:

اَللّٰهُمَّ سَلّمْنِيْ لِرَمَضانَ وَسَلّمْ رَمَضانَ لِيْ وَسَلّمْه لِي مُتَقَبَّلا

(رواه الطبراني في الدعاء والديلمي ، وسنده حسن- كنز العمال 8/584)

Allahumma sallimni li Ramadana, wa sallim Ramadana li, wa sallimhu li mutaqabbala

Translation: O Allah! preserve me for Ramadan, safeguard Ramadan for me and accept it from me.

Explanation

“Preserve me for Ramadan” means: O Allah! allow me to remain healthy and able so I may benefit from Ramadan. It shouldn’t be that when Ramadan arrives, I am caught up in some unfortunate condition that hinders our Fast, ‘ibadah etc.

“Safeguard Ramadan for me” means: In addition to being able, O Allah! grant me the tawfeeq (ability) to maximise my benefit from this auspicious occasion. Many able people witness this month but fail to actually benefit from it. These people are truly unfortunate! May Allah save us.

“and accept it from me” means: O Allah! after inspiring me to be devoted throughout the month, don’t let it go to waste by not accepting it.

The Habit of the Salaf (predecessors)

1⃣ The famous Tabi’i: Imam Makhool (rahimahullah) would recite this du’a at the beginning of Ramadan.

2⃣ ‘Abdul ‘Azeez ibn Abi Rawwad (Demise: 159 A.H.) said that “the muslims would recite” a similar du’a (with additions to the above wording) upon the arrival of Ramadan.

3⃣ Imam Muhammad ibn Nasar Al-Marwazi has stated that it was the habit of the Sahabah (radiyallahu’anhum) and the Tabi’un (rahimahumullah) to recite this du’a when Ramadan arrived.

4⃣ The reliable Tabi’i; Yahya Ibn Abi Katheer (rahimahullah) said:
“It was their habit (the Sahabah and Tabi’un) to make this du’a…”
——
May Allah ﷻ‬‎ bless us with all of the above this Ramadan.

How do you react to Ramadan

Nobody can skip Ramadan, we are all given this opportunity equally.
How we react to this auspicious month is actually our own choice.

With 10 days already passed, it’s an ideal time to reflect on the following.

In essence, there are three reactions to this blessed season:

1⃣ There are some who are already spiritually charged and await this month in earnest. They use this as an opportunity to progress further in spirituality during Ramadan. These individuals maximise their benefit from this month. They are the fortunate ones!
May we be from this group

2⃣ There are others who are aware of the auspiciousness of the month and prepare themselves to honour its sanctity as much as possible. They shun the sins that they usually engage in during the other eleven months of the year and even try to increase their ‘ibadat in Ramadan. However, once the month departs, they revert to those wrongs! It’s as if they braced themselves for this month only. They then release the ‘hand-break’ once the crescent of Shawwal is sighted. This is the middle group and unfortunately the majority.

3⃣ There many to whom Ramadan makes no difference! They show no regard to it whatsoever and persist in the wrongs that they are so accustomed to. These are the deprived ones! They are the real losers!
May Allah ﷻ‬‎ save us

Which team we belong to is really up to us!

May Allah ﷻ‬‎ protect us all and inspire us to accept this auspicious month with open arms, and to maximize our benefit therefrom. Amin.

⛔ The religion of entertainment ❗

The trend around the globe is that people are constantly looking for innovative ways of entertaining themselves.
This ‘hunger for entertainment’ has a gradual effect of retrogression on one’s spirituality.

Un-Detected
In the recent past, the tendency of making jokes that entail the symbols of Islam have alarmingly increased.

Even more astonishing is the fact that many of us Muslims don’t even realize the proportion of its ill-effect.

The Significance of a Symbol

Allah ﷻ‬‎ says:

ومن يعظم شعائر الله فإنها من تقوى القلوب
‘And whoever honours the symbols of Allah, does so out of the taqwa [that exits] in the heart.’
(Surah Haj, verse: 32)

A symbol is something that exclusively represents whatever it symbolizes.

Making fun of the symbols of Islam is a mockery of Islam itself! ⚠
The Fuqaha have ruled that when one mocks at a symbol of Islam, he could be removed from the fold!
(Durrul Mukhtar, with Raddul Muhtar, vol.5 pg.474)

Jokes that portray people reciting the Quran or offering salah in a comical manner, or a man making du’a using words and phrases that are meant to create a laugh indeed fall very close to ‘One who mocks a symbol of Islam.’
Jokes about ‘God’ are also included in the above. ⛔
How can a Muslim make fun at his very own religion? How did we reach such a level? It surely didn’t happen in the blink of an eye. These are the ill-effects of our hunger for entertainment.

Who is then to blame for defamatory cartoons and other such mockups of our religion⁉

Allah ﷻ‬‎ has clearly stated:

وما هو بالهزل
‘And it (the Quran and its teachings, ie, Islam) is not a joke’
(Surah Tariq, verse: 14)

What to do ❓
⚠When one receives such a clip or joke, immediately delete it. Don’t share it with anyone, as this leads to it spreading. Sometimes, ignoring futility is the best way to eradicate it.
By sharing such jokes, we become guilty of this mockery ourselves!

⛔ Lastly, one should –if possible- tactfully advise the sender against sharing/creating such content.

May Allah ﷻ‬‎ save us from ‘the religion of entertainment’, as that is not the religion brought by Muhammad ﷺ !!

⚡ Amazing benefits of 10 verses of Surah Baqarah

In an era like ours, in which we’ve become immune to insecurity & unpleasant surprises, the following prescription from one of the most knowledgeable Sahabah (radiyallahu’anhum) is very pertinent.

Lets read through the following narrations and be inspired.

Sayyiduna ‘Abdullah ibn Mas’ud (radiyallahu’anhu) said:

‘Whoever recites the following ten verses of Surah Baqarah in the morning,
1⃣ will be saved from Shaytan till the evening, and whoever recites it in the evening will be protected from Shaytan till the morning.

2⃣ He will not experience unpleasant surprises in his family or wealth.

3⃣ If these verses are recited on an insane person, he will be cured.

One narration adds:

4⃣ ‘If they are recited in a home, no Shaytan shall enter it till the morning.’

(Sunan Darimi, Shu’abul Iman & Al-Mu’jamul Kabir. ‘Allamah Suyuti has declared one chain of Darimi as authentic (sahih) refer: Da’il Falah, Hadith: 84)

Those ten verses are:

The first four verses.
(according to some ‘Ulama this ends at the word: ‘Muflihun‘
(Al-Hirzuth Thamin, vol.1 pg.521)

Ayatul Kursi & the two verses that follow it.

The last three verses.

Let’s make it our habit of reciting these verses every morning & evening.

Become the Beloved of Allah ⚡

From the entire three hundred and sixty days of the Islamic calendar, there is no other set of ten days that is more virtuous, then the first ten days of Dhul Hijjah.
(lataiful Ma’arif)

The Ten most Blessed days of the year have arrived!
Nabi ﷺ actually labelled them as: ‘The best days in the world.’
(Musnad Bazzar)

All Deeds are most beloved to Allah on these days ⚡
During this time of the year, any good deed one does, is most loved by Allah ﷻ‬‎ ; be that even a deed as easy as a subhanallah.

There is no better time in the whole year for one to do good than these blessed days [and nights], other than on Laylatul Qadr.

✅Rasulullah ﷺ said:
‘There are no other days in which Allah loves good deeds more than on these [10] days.’
(Sahih Bukhari)

✅One version adds: ‘…so frequently recite therein: Subhanallah, Alhamdulillah, la ilaha illallah and Allahu Akbar.
(Al-Mu’jamul Kabir)

✅Sayyiduna Anas (radiyallahu’anhu) says;
‘It was understood about these days, that each day is equal to a thousand days [in virtue]’
(Shu’abul Iman)

Become the beloved of Allah!
These days ahead of us actually offer us the grand opportunity of becoming beloved to Allah ﷻ‬.

In the above narrations we learn the following:
These days are most beloved to Allah.
Good deeds on these days are also most beloved to Allah.
Frequently recite the dhikrs: Subhanallah, Alhamdulillah, la ilaha illallah & Allahu Akbar.
In an authentic (sahih) narration, Nabi ﷺ has labelled these four dhikrs as: the most beloved of statements to Allah.
(Sahih Muslim)

All of this culminate with the tenth day; the day of ‘Eidul Adha. The day of slaughter. On this day, the most beloved deed is to slaughter an animal for Allah’s sake.
(Sunan Tirmidhi)

One who implements the above, can go along way in achieving the love of Allah ﷻ‬‎.

We have done enough of those deeds that Allah Ta’ala despises and hates. This is our chance to rectify that…

Do what is beloved to Allah, on the days that are most beloved to Allah, and we ourselves can become beloved to Allah ﷻ‬‎.

Rectified Motives & Reformed Children

The Honourable Hadith expert of our times, Al-Muhaddith, Shaykh Muhammad ‘Awwamah (may Allah protect him) often states that the residents of Madinah Munawwarah would regularly make the following du’a:

اللّٰهُمَّ أَصْلِحِ النِّيَّةَ والذُّرِّيَّةَ
Allahumma aslihin niyyah wadh dhurriyyah

Translation
O Allah, rectify my intentions & reform My progeny.

This brief yet profound du’a is much needed in the world today.
‼ Ponder: One who is berift of the above 2 bounties will suffer in both Worlds❗

The Selfie Age
Unfortunately we live in an era where almost ‘nothing is done without an ulterior motive.’
It’s an era wherein everything is ’selfied’; be it with a pic or even in text.

‼ Without the correct motive, no deed is accepted by Allah ﷻ‬‎

❌ Even if that deed be as noble as it gets; we should still be focused on our intentions, instead of broadcasting our achievements❗

A Rare Breed
The need for ‘reformed’ offspring is understood by one and all. Especially in an age where such a blessing is of a rare kind.
Fortunate are those who have already achieved this.
While many of us still only yearn for that blessing…

Let’s include this du’a in our daily supplications, in addition to the physical effort that is needed to achieve the above.
Insha Allah we will see great results.

May Allah ﷻ‬‎ accept all our efforts and du’as.

Simple Recitals during bad wheather

In conditions like the above, in addition to sincere repentance & additional salah, we should frequently recite the du’as taught to us in the Noble Hadith of Nabi ﷺ.

From the many sunnah du’as for such conditions, the following is a list of the more easy ones:

When it’s windy:

اللّٰهُمَّ اجْعَلْها رِياحًا ولا تَجْعَلْها رِيْحًا
Allahummaj ‘alha riyahan wa la taj’alha reehan

Translation
O Allah, let it be a wind of mercy, not one of punishment.
(Tabarani & others)

While it’s raining

اللّٰهُمَّ صَيِّبًا نافِعا
Allahumma sayyiban nafi’a

Translation
O Allah, let it be a beneficial downpour.
(Sahih Bukhari)

☔ When it rains heavily:

اللّٰهُمَّ حَوالَيْنا وَلا عَلَيْنا
Allahumma hawalayna wa la ‘alayna.

Translation
O Allah, let it rain around us, not upon us.
(Sahih Bukhari)

⚡ During a storm/thunder and lightning:⛈

Translation
O Allah, Do not kill us through your anger, do not destroy us with your punishment & save us before that occurs.
(Tirmidhi & Nasai)

A suggested du’a [by ‘Ulama] for when driving in the rain:

إنَّ اللّهَ يُمْسِكُ السَّماواتِ وَالأَرْضَ أَنْ تَزُولا
Innalllaha yumsikus samawati wal arda an tazula

Translation
Undoubtedly it is Allah who keeps the heavens & earth from shaking.
(Al-Ibtihaj of ‘Allamah Sakhawi)

Among the best of recitals for such conditions is the recital of Surah Falaq & Surah Nas frequently.

Sayyiduna ‘Uqbah ibn ‘Amir (radiyallahu ‘anhu)says:
“While I was travelling with Rasulullah ﷺ a strong wind & intense darkness enveloped us. Nabi ﷺ began reciting Surah Falaq and Surah Nas. He then said, ‘Uqbah, seek refuge through these two Surahs for none can seek refuge [with anything better] than these two Surahs…”
(Sunan Abi Dawud, Hadith: 1458)

May Allah Ta’ala protect everyone.

Respect our marhum, fallen brethren ❌❌

Undoubtedly, Allah ﷻ has favoured the Ummah of Nabi Muhammad ﷺ in countless ways.

⏱ Intervalled Tests
From time to time Allah ﷻ -by his wisdom- also tests the Ummah.
Nabi ﷺ informed the Ummah that they will be tested by Allah ﷻ in the form of natural catastrophies and other physical hardships.

Currently many Muslims throughout the world are subject to unimaginable torture and brutality.
⌛ Insha Allah, this is a passing phase, which will be replaced with better times ahead for the Muslims globally.

✔ Feel the Pain
As Muslims, and members of one global family, we are definitely required to feel their pain and to make an earnest effort to assist them in every way possible.
But that ‘effort’ does not include circulating gruesome pictures of our brothers and sisters! ❌❌

Human dignity
Allah ﷻ has endowed humanity with dignity. (Surah Isra)
As Humans, we are taught to cover the deceased wherever they may be. And not to leave human corpses to lay around like that of animals!

ثم أماته فأقبره
Then He (Allah) gave man death and had him buried.
(Surah ‘Abasa)

Broadcasting pics of our fellow Muslim brothers and sisters choking on their blood or laying martyred on the ground or even as decapitated is totally wrong!
In trying to -rightfully- create awareness of their plight we have -unknowingly- failed their right to privacy.
It is indeed sad, how we have violated their dignity, albeit unintentionally.
The same applies to when fellow friends are involved in car-accidents and any other tragedy.

Lets do it the right way
Please do continue to raise awareness and to assist the part of our family that is greatly in need.
✅ Do it in the correct manner. Don’t be tricked into thinking that they would want their fallen bodies broadcast throughout the world.
Would we want that for our own selves or our blood brothers, sisters, parents and children⁉
Therefore, let’s keep the posters, flyers & clips free of such pictures.
It shouldn’t be that due to the current bombardment of brutal pictures and clips, we become immune to such scenes, and then do nothing about it besides passing it around…

May Allah ﷻ guide us and may He‬‎ alleviate the suffering of the Ummah, soon. Very soon.

بحوله وقدرته. وما ذلك علىالله بعزيز

There is no bad luck in the month of Safar❗

Sayyiduna Abu Hurayrah (radiyallahu’anhu) reports that Rasulullah ﷺ said:
‘There is no such thing as [the month of] Safar [being bad].’
(Sahih Bukhari)

In light of this & other Hadiths, to regard the month of Safar as an unlucky month or as a month in which calamities occur is unislamic.
This is actually a false notion from the pre-Islamic era.❌

Hafiz Ibn Rajab Al-Hambali (rahimahullah) said:
‘The people of Jahiliyyah (the pre-Islamic age) would regard Safar as a source of bad luck. Nabi ﷺ has abolished this belief.
There are many ignorant people who continue to regard Safar as a bad month…’
(Lataiful Ma’arif, pg.148)

This ruling is echoed by many other Scholars.
(refer: Mirqat, Hadith: 4577 & Ma Thabata bis Sunnah of Shah ‘Abdul Haq, pg.267)

⛔ Another Fabrication:
There is a narration that states: ‘Whoever gives me the good news of Safar departing, I will give him the good news of Jannah.’

This is not a Hadith of Rasulullah ﷺ. ‼
The Hadith Experts have ruled it a fabrication.
(Kashful Khafa, Hadith: 2416)

Hadith guidelines on tooth-picking

Islam lays unparalleled emphasis on oral hygiene.
The emphasis on brushing the teeth with the miswak is just one example.

The Sunnah of Picking the Teeth
Another form of oral hygiene – in Islam- is the encouragement to pick the teeth after meals.

Sayyiduna Abu Ayyub (radiyallahu ‘anhu) reports that Rasulullah ﷺ said:
‘How good is [the practice of] those in my Ummah, who wash between the fingers and toes in wudu [i.e. by doing khilal] and those who pick their teeth.’
(Ibn Abi Shaybah & Musnad Ahmad)

Tooth-picking
In the above and other Hadiths, we are taught to pick the teeth after meals. In addition to causing decay, leaving food unpicked from the teeth also creates an odour which offends others.
(Faydul Qadir)

The teeth are usually picked:
1⃣ with the tongue,
2⃣ with a finger,
3⃣ with an object like the toothpick/dental floss/waterpik etc

However, we are advised to not swallow the food particles that are picked with fingers, toothpicks or other foreign objects.

✅ Sayyiduna Abu Hurayrah (radiyallahu ‘anhu) reports that Rasulullah ﷺ said:
‘… Whoever eats and removes the [left over] food from between his teeth with his finger [or any foreign object, like a toothpick] should spit it out. What he removes [from the teeth] with his tongue, he may swallow. Whoever abides by this does well, and who does not, will not be sinful.
(Sunan Abi Dawud)

One reason for spitting what is removed with a foreign object is due to the possibility of it having blood on it. [The consumption of blood is unlawful].
(Badhul Majhud, vol. 1 pg. 23)

The above should be done with the intention of following the noble teaching of our Beloved Nabi ﷺ

Every sunnah is filled with immense barakah and benefits.

A clean heart goes to Jannah 💙

📌Sayyiduna Anas (radiyallahu ‘anhu) says:
“We were sitting with Nabi ﷺ when he said: “A man who is from the inmates of Jannah is about to arrive.”
Soon thereafter, a Sahabi came in, with his shoes in his left hand & the water of wudu dripping from his beard. When the gathering ended, Sayyiduna ‘Abdullah ibn ‘Amr ibn ‘As (radiyallahu ‘anhuma) followed this person [with the motive of learning the reason for him being blessed with such a glad tiding]

He said to him: “I have taken an oath that I will not go home for 3⃣ days. Is it possible for you to accommodate me for this time?” The Sahabi agreed. Sayyiduna ‘Abdullah ibn ‘Amr stayed with him for 3⃣ days, but noticed nothing extraordinary in his routine. i.e, he never engaged in additional voluntary deeds as expected.

🔎 However, whenever this Sahabi (radiyallahu ‘anhu) would go to bed at night, he would recite some form of dhikr, then sleep till fajr. Furthermore, during these 3⃣ days he did not hear him utter any word besides good.

👉🏽 Sayyiduna ‘Abdullah ibn ‘Amr (radiyallahu ‘anhuma) says: ‘After 3⃣ nights I almost deemed his deeds as ‘nothing so special’. I approached him and explained that my real motive for staying with him was to discover the special act that he may be engaging in, which warranted his guarantee of Jannah.’ Then I asked him: ‘How did You achieve such a rank?’ He said: ‘I have no special deeds beside whatever You have seen during your stay.’ I accepted this and was about to leave when he exclaimed: ‘O, Yes! there is something.
I do not harbor any evil or malice in my heart against any fellow Muslim. I am not jealous over whatever good Allah bestows upon any of them.’ Sayyiduna ‘Abdullah ibn ‘Amr (radiyallahu ‘anhuma) said:
👌🏽 ‘That is precisely the reason for you reaching such a lofty status. 👌🏽
(Musnad Ahmad & Nasai. Also see: Tafsir Ibn Kathir, Surah: 59, Ayah: 9)

🕋 Let’s earn our Place in Jannah too by emptying our hearts of ill-feelings/malice/jealousy etc towards others.
Failure to do so is more harmful to ourselves, instead of anyone else…‼

Repeat Broadcast

There are many rewarding deeds whose merits are inflated based on the occasion in which they are carried out.

One such deed is:

Walking for the salah of Jumu’ah. 🕌

No wonder according to some experts, there is no other Sahih (authentic) Hadith with greater virtue than this one!

May Allah Ta’ala grant us all the ability to take advantage of this opportunity. Amin.

Leaving for the Masjid in the state of Wudu 🚰🏘🕌

There are several incentives for one who does wudu at his residence before leaving for the masjid.
Hereunder are some of those benefits:

1⃣ Sayyiduna Abu Hurayrah (radiyallahu ‘anhu) reports that Rasulullah ﷺ said:
‘When one performs wudu at home and leaves for the masjid solely to offer salah [in congregation], for every step taken towards the masjid [in this state of wudu] one sin is forgiven, one reward accrued and one stage is elevated in the Hereafter.’
(Sahih Bukhari & Sahih Muslim)

2⃣ Sayyiduna Abu Umamah (radiyallahu ‘anhu) reports that Rasulullah ﷺ said:
‘One who performs wudu at home then proceeds to the masjid for fard salah secures the reward of a Haji in the state of ihram.’
(Sunan Abi Dawud)

🕌 Doing wudu at home before proceeding to the masjid is a recommended practice. Besides the above, it holds other spiritual benefits as well. 🕋

✅ Let’s try and inculcate this noble practice in our daily routine. 🚰

It will also be a source of blessings coming into our homes, insha Allah.

Recital after Jumu’ah for protection

🕋 After the Fard of Jumu’ah Salah, in addition to the normal recitals for after every fard salah, one may add the following:

Sayyidatuna ‘Aishah (radiyallahu’anha) reports that Rasulullah ﷺ said:

‘Whoever recites the following surahs 7 times, before talking to anyone after the Jumu’ah salah, will be protected till the following Jumu’ah:

✅Surah Ihklas,
✅Surah Falaq
✅Surah Nas

(‘Amalul yawmi wal laylah of Ibnus Sunni, Hadith: 375. Also see: Al-Adhkar, Hadith: 520 & Al-Futuhatur Rabbaniyyah, 4/232-233)

👌🏽This is suitable for practice and is well supported by similar reports from other Sahabah and Tabi’un (radiyallahu’anhum)

👉🏼 Note 1: Some narrations add Surah Fatihah at the beginning.

👉🏼 Note 2: ‘Protection’ in this Hadith refers to protection of one’s wealth, family as well as one’s worldly and religious affairs.

In an era of uncertainty like our’s, this recital is very pertinent, and should not be ignored…

Recommended times for using the Miswak 🌴

👌🏽 Perhaps the most encapsulating Hadith on the importance of brushing the teeth with a Miswak is the narration of Sayyiduna Abu Umamah (radiyallahu’anhu) wherein Rasulullah ﷺ says:

’Use the Miswak, for it is a means of cleansing the mouth and attaining the pleasure of Allah. Every time Jibril (‘alayhi salam) came to me he advised me to use the Miswak, to an extent that I feared it may become obligatory for me and my ummah to use it. If it wasn’t for the fear of creating difficulty upon my followers, I would have made it binding on them. Indeed I use the Miswak so much that I fear for my gums.’

(Ibn Majah, Hadith:289, see Targheeb 1/166)

The Scholars have enumerated up to 🔟 different moments in which we are encouraged to use the Miswak:

1⃣ Upon awakening
2⃣ While making wudhu
3⃣ Before offering salah (provided the gums don’t bleed)
4⃣ Before reciting the Holy Quran
5⃣ Before meeting with people
6⃣ Upon entering the home
7⃣ When one is hungry
8⃣ When the teeth become yellow
9⃣ When the mouth has a bad odour
🔟 Before death (if one can sense it)

This displays the emphasis Islam lays on Dental care. 💎

👍🏼 Let’s make all of the above part of our routine.

💎 A Beautiful Hadith on Salam🤝

Sayyiduna ‘Abdullah Ibn Mas’ud (radiyallahu’anhu) reports that Nabi ﷺ said:

‘As-Salam is one of the names of Allah ﷻ‬‎ that has been placed on Earth. So, spread it amongst yourselves!
For indeed when a Muslim passes by a group of people and greets them [first] with Salam and they reply to him, he will supersede their rank by virtue of merely reminding them of the Salam.
If they do not reply to him, then those [Angels] who are better and more purer will have replied!’
(Musnad Bazzar and Tabarani with a reliable chain)

Let’s take advantage of this beautiful benefit of saying Salam first, while also being aware that if we do not receive a reply, it’s the Angels who will indeed do so insha Allah.

🎯 The following is recorded from Sayyiduna ‘Abdullah Ibn ‘Abbas (radiyallahu’anhuma) with a reliable chain:
‘When one sneezes, [even if he is alone] he should still say: Alhamdulillahi Rabbil ‘Alamin.
When he does so, the Angels reply to him saying: Yarhamukallah.’
(May Allah have mercy on you)

📌 The renowned Tabi’i, Ibrahim Nakha’i (rahimahullah) said:
‘Therefore, after saying Alhamdulillah… one who is alone [or one who does not receive a reply from those present] should say:
Yarhamunallahu wa iyyakum.’
(May Allah Ta’ala have mercy on you and I)

👌🏽 Reciting Hadiths of Sahih Bukhari for removal of difficulty

It is a famous statement among the Muhaddithun:
‘When reciting Hadith, Allah’s ﷻ‬‎ special mercies descend.’
(Tadribur Rawi, 4/540)

During times of difficulty, fear and hardship, in addition to Quran recital and other forms of du’a etc, one practice of our pious predecessors; recent and ancient is to recite the entire Sahih Bukhari in order to draw Allah’s ﷻ‬‎ special mercy.

Sahih Bukhari consists of among the most authentic Hadiths of Rasulullah ﷺ ever gathered.
Through the blessings (barakah) of reciting these noble Hadiths, Allah ﷻ‬‎ removes adversity. This is a well tried and tested practice & is based on centuries of experience.
✅ It was the habit of our Akabir and our pious predecessors (rahimahumullah) to engage in a recital of the entire Bukhari Shareef in times of difficulty and strife.
💎 Several Muhaddithun have mentioned the effect of this deed in removing harm, illlness and calamity including drought.
This is a tried and tested practice over centuries.

Many Muhaddithun of the past too have mentioned their experience in the effect of this method of supplication.

📚 See 10 quotations from the senior Hadith masters here:

Reciting Hadiths of Sahih Bukhari to repel calamity

🕋 Currently the Ummah of Nabi ﷺ is undergoing untold challenges.
📌From Syria to Yemen to Iraq, Afghanistan, Somalia, Myanmar (Burma) and Sri Lanka- to name a few.

💡 In light of the above, reliable, qualified ‘Ulama should be approached with a request of reviving this practice.
People should support such initiatives and facilitate these recitals of the ’most authentic book authored by man’.
In so doing we would attract additional mercy of Allah ﷻ‬‎.
May Allah ﷻ‬‎ remove the sufferings of Muslims throughout the globe soon, very soon.

❗ Note: Such recitals should only be conducted by ‘Ulama who are qualified to do so.
The general masses may attend the completion and du’a for its blessings.

THE MODESTY OF SAYYIDUNA ‘UTHMAN (RADIYALLAHU ‘ANHU) 👌🏽

Question🔍

Is the following narration authentic?

💎 Rasulullah ﷺ was reclining in his house while his legs were uncovered. Sayyiduna Abu Bakr (radiyallahu ‘anhu) sought permission to enter, so he permitted him to enter and he spoke to him. Then Sayyiduna ‘Umar (radiyallahu ‘anhu) sought permission to enter, so he was permitted likewise, and he spoke to him as well while he continued to recline. Then Sayyiduna ‘Uthman came and sought permission to enter, so Nabi ﷺ sat up and straightened his garments. Sayyiduna ‘Uthman was then permitted to enter and he spoke to him.

When he left, Sayyidah ‘Aaishah (radiyallahu ‘anha) said to Nabi ﷺ : ‘Abu Bakr came and you did not move, ‘Umar came and you did not move, but when ‘Uthman came you sat up and straightened your garments?’
Nabi ﷺ said: “Should I not feel shy before a man whom the Angels feel shy for ?“ 👌🏽

Answer🔍

✅Imam Muslim (rahimahullah) has recorded this narration in his Sahih. The narration is therefore authentic.
(Sahih Muslim, #2401)

And Allah Ta’ala Knows best.

– receive the reward of spending the entire night in ‘ibadah.

2. Sleep in the state of wudhu.
– your soul will make sajdah under the ‘Arsh (Throne) of Allah ﷻ‬‎.

3. Abstain from sin.

4. Clear your heart from ill-feelings towards fellow Muslims.
– or else be deprived of Allah’s mercy.

5. Salatut Tasbeeh.
see next message.

10. Tawbah.

The procedure for Tawbah is:
a. Perform two rak’ahs of Salah. (Optional)

Counting Dhikr on date pits & tasbih beeds

Question
Could you mention the Hadith, that states: date seeds or pebbles were used while doing dhikr?
Also could you mention its authenticity?

Answer
Sayyiduna Sa’d ibn Abi Waqqas (radiyallahu ‘anhu) reports that Rasulullah ﷺ visited a woman who was reciting tasbih on date pits, or pebbles…

(Sunan Tirmidhi, Sahih Ibn Hibban & Mustadrak Hakim)
This Hadith is classified as authentic.

Shaykh ‘Abdul Hayy Laknawi (rahimahullah) – a world renowned Scholar – has a detailed book on the issue of using the ‘subhah’ or ‘tasbih’ (a collection of beads on a string) for reciting/counting dhikr. He has substantiated this with Hadiths of Rasulullah (sallallahu’alayhi wasallam), the practice of the Sahabah (radiyallahu’anhum) as well as the verdicts of the ‘Ulama.

This book is printed and is entitled: Nuzhatul Fikr, fi Subhati Dhikr.

‘Allamah Suyuti (rahimahullah has also authored a booklet on this issue entitled: Al-Minhah fis Subhah.

Respect for one’s Teacher 🌟👌🏼

Al-Muhaddith Shaykh Muhammad ‘Awwamah’s (hafizahullah) son; Shaykh Muhyuddin writes about his father:
‘I cannot remember my father ever talking on the phone whilst sitting when he spoke to his teacher; Shaykh ‘Abdul Fattah Abu Ghuddah (rahimahullah).

Despite the many phone calls they shared, he always stood [out of respect] for his teacher. To the extent that as children, whenever we saw our father standing and talking on the phone, we knew he was taking to his esteemed teacher; Shaykh ‘Abdul Fattah Abu Ghuddah (rahimahullah).🤝

(Refer: Safahat Mudiah min Hayati Sayyidil Walid, pg.80)

Subhanallah!🕋

What sublime etiquette. Allah Ta’ala inspires the sincere ones with such noble forms of respect.

🕯 Moral
Respect for ones teacher or senior is not restricted to their presence. Rather even in their absence they deserve our utmost respect.🌟

👌🏼 Respect for ones teachers and seniors is an inherent quality of the pious. The following is a famous statement among the ‘Ulama:

ما فاز من فاز إلا بالأدب
وما سقط من سقط إلا بسوء الأدب

All those who had good manners succeeded.👌🏼

Whilst those who had bad manners were surely failures.❗

🤲🏼 May Allah Ta’ala bless us with true love and respect for our Seniors.

CONSULTING THE JURISTS AND PIOUS📝 🌟👌🏼

Question

🔎Is this Hadith authentic❓

Rasulullah ﷺ emphasised the importance of both; understanding and piety in his advice to Sayyiduna ‘Ali (radiyallahu ‘anhu) when he asked, “O Messenger of Allah, if we were afflicted with a matter wherein there is no permissibility or prohibition, what do you instruct us to do? Nabi (sallallahu ‘alayhi wa sallam) replied:
“Consult the jurist and the pious, and do not independently pass a judgement.”

Answer
Imam Tabarani (rahimahullah) has recorded this Hadith.🔖
(Al Mu’jamul Awsat, Hadith: 1641)

👉🏽Allamah Haythami (rahimahullah) states, ‘The narrators have been deemed credible (rijaluhu muwatthaqun min ahlis sahih). ‘Allamah Suyuti (rahimahullah) has also declared the Hadith authentic.📋

(Majma’uz Zawaid, vol. 1 pg. 178. Refer: Atharul Hadith of Shaykh Muhammad ‘Awwamah, pg. 206)

And Allah Ta’ala Knows best.

💡 THE VIRTUE OF TAKING A BATH ON A FRIDAY 🛁🚿

Sayyiduna Abu Umamah (radiyallahu ‘anhu) narrates that Rasulullah ﷺ said:

“Having a bath on Friday removes sins from even the hair roots.” [i.e. removes all minor sins completely]

(Al Mu’jamul Kabir, Hadith: 7996)

💎‘Allamah Mundhiri and ‘Allamah Haythami (rahimahumallah) have declared the narrators reliable (thiqat). 👌🏻
